Houlgate was the nicest discovery in the Normandy region.
Houlgate was the nicest discovery in the Normandy region. It's a small town/city that is absolutely beautiful, the beach is huge so its not crowded, one can walk for kilometres. The houses are perfectly restored and preserved as in the old times, because they have been passed from one generation in the family to another....and this for the last 400 years at least. People are VERY friendly, there are nice boutiques, and you find quite a few of top-rated restaurants; and otherwise, nice creperies and simple pizzerias (for all budgets). Houlgate is a must.

What a gem of a town,very good restaurants and plenty to chose from. The beach is safe and sand for miles. A Parisian weekend destination,many houses are Maison secondaries, very clean and well loved town I think.

The whole apartment is so spacious and very well equipped. The beach is perfect - was not too crowded in July, the town - very cosy, with several places to eat and a great fish market for your own cooking experience.
