We found Lens a little disapointing, very few restaurants and other places to eat that looked attractive, some noisy ones but a large shortage of family type restaurants. The last train back from Lille was too early. Not enough attractions in Lens to make us want to go back.

The Paris Louvre museum has opened an annex museum in Lens, known as the Louvre Lens..
It is also the perfect town ti visit various WW1 cemeteries, including The ring if remememberance, containing the names of every soldier killed in the Oas de Calais, including German dead. Others include Vimy Ridge, a must see, and Notre Dame de Lorrette, which contains the remains of 50,000 French dead... An amazing place... Thiepval is also very close....

There's lots to do in Lens but the town itself can look a little run down in places. However, the Louvre-Lens museum and the nature trail around it are magical. The museum offered free entrance, possibly because of Covid, during our visit. We thoroughly enjoyed the museum, the exhibits, and the design of the museum itself. For us, the museum has the perfect amount of information for each exhibit, wonderful artefacts, and some spectacular photographs. Although expensive, we enjoyed a superb meal at the restaurant, L'Atelier de Marc Meurin, in the grounds of the museum. We would like to return to Lens to see some of the World War One memorials, cycle some of the bike paths, and climb the slag heaps that are open to the public.

Musee Louvre great for a cultural trip and the investment that has bought to the local area is good to see.
The environmental regeneration of the coal mines is excellent - planting, foot paths, local flora and fauna.
Great to see young and old alike enjoying the skating park on skateboards, bikes, scooters a real centre for for the local community.
Great football stadium.
Clean town - I hope it gets more investment.
Close to the route from Eurotunnel to south of france so good for an overnight stop.

Busy town, some shops closed on the high street/city centre.
Busy town, some shops closed on the high street/city centre... same as everywhere else.
I ent to see some of the WW1 memorial sites (Vimy Ridge etc), and it was a great location for that. Only took me about 15 mins to get to the small towns where the site are located
Easy pick-up of key. Basic decor but clean. One bedroom with twin beds and one bedroom with double - good-sized rooms, very comfortable beds. Good-sized shower room/toilet. Small living area with kitchenette. Close to restaurants, small supermarkets and high street. We found free parking on the street outside, but maybe were just lucky. One nice touch was the little dossier provided by the owners describing local attractions, recommending restaurants etc. Overall a decent place to stay if spending one or two nights in Lens.
The hotel is nice and has a large parking lot. The location is ok and you can even walk to the center in about 20-30 min if you want to. The rooms where clean (and big enough for 2 people), the staff friendly and breakfast was nice and fresh (even though not a huge selection). For a hotel of this size I was not expecting that the staff at the reception does not speak a single word in English; however, I somehow I can't/ don't want to make this a negative point, just something to keep in mind :-)
What a perfect apartment in the centre of Lens, with its own parkingplace! It looks brandnew, really everything is there (even some sweets!), a very good bed and furniture, tastefully decorated, quiet and very clean, super!
Maybe good to know: the building itself is older, the elevator is small and the apartment is the last one on the left, with a keybox We did not meet the owner, but the communication was very good.
We really can advise you to book it!
The location is centre of town so parking was the only issue but walking distance to everywhere. The welcome was fabulous - so friendly and positive. She showed us to the 2 rooms we'd booked and kept asking if we were happy or could she help. They were large, high ceiling rooms 1 with a balcony albeit over the road I still enjoyed it. The breakfast was very tasty and we would heartily recommend this hotel.
The room is very large and well appointed with ensuite bathroom. The furnishings and fixtures are to a very high standard. Chantal is a great hostess, making delicious breakfast and able to recommend restaurants and other services. The location is perfect, about 5 minutes from the station and also 5 minutes to the high street. Lens is a lovely town to visit for 2-3 days.
Really nice idea , modern hotel built behind a historic facade of mining houses.
But the execution falls a bit flat.
Don't book an even numbered room, nearest to the road as you will be awoken after 0600 by a constant stream of cars, buses and lorries.
comfort of the beds, good kitchen, spacious apartment, located in the center of Lens. Close to bars, restaurants and supermarkets. 2 minutes walk to the train station that brings you to Paris in an hour.
We stayed here at Christmas and were impressed so came back again. It's on the route to/from Calais so suits us well.
The hotel is modern, the rooms are spacious and clean. Very good value for money.
Excellent location, right opposite the station and a few minutes walk from the centre and the football stadium. Good sized room, clean and comfortable and well sound-proofed. Friendly, helpful staff.
The proximity to Gare de Lens made the location ideal. The room was excellent, as was the setting. I like how they incorporated sustainability into their workflow.
