Parking was quite difficult in Orange and you need to pay in the centre. The surrounding areas are absolutely stunning and well worth visiting especially the Gorge de la Nesque, Gorge du Verdun and of course the drive up to Mount Ventoux. The wine region is one of our favourites and there are many fantastic villages to see such as Gordes, Rousillon and L'isle sur la Sorgue (arrive early to find good parking)

After being down on the busy Cote d'Azur it was a welcome and peaceful respite. The old town is lovely and there are many cafes and restaurants to enjoy. The piece de resistance of course is the world renowned Theatre Antique amphitheatre where you can go to wonderful concerts - we went to see the unparalleled Sting.

Great peaceful, happening town.
Great peaceful, happening town. Nice size for a short visit as you can walk the major parts of the old town historic areas within an hour or less! Cute boutiques, jewelry, clothing, swimwear stores. Mostly independent shops. Saw lots of touring cyclists so the flat landscape is a big bonus for them. The Roman influence is everywhere: working amphitheatre, arc de triumph, ruins, etc. Recommend touring the amphitheatre and then going across the street to the museum. Lovely town squares with sycamore/plane trees to block out the sun. Lots of restaurant choices. Place dés herbes has a tea shop: lovely to sit outside an have a cuppa tea or coffee. Overall a peaceful quiet town of historic significance. Romans+ William of Orange/j’aoute of Nassau.

Delightful town full of Provence history - large enough to have all the facilities a traveler may want but at the same time of the non overpowering size - everywhere is accessible on foot. It also is a few minutes from the motorway so a perfect stop on a longer journey.

A superb place to visit!
A superb place to visit! Very relaxing and safe with great facilities. Not to mention the amazing architecture and heritage. Orange is very clean and well looked after. The people seemed friendly. Restaurants lovely. Not much English is spoken so I got to practice my French which is a good thing :)

A pleasant town, but after seeing the main sights there is not a lot else but great starting point for many cycle routes. The Roman theater was magnificent.
Great hot chocolate and ice cream shop with a view of the theatre wall
Very kind owner, who was more than happy to assist. His English was also very good, so communication went smoothly.
Rooms were big, facilities clean, towels good, beds were comfortable to lie in and above all there was A/C. It was a blessing to have A/C in Côte d’Azur temperatures.
Hotel is situated very close by the Theatre d’Orange, which was perfect for visiting the Afterlife festival. Quiet street as well.
Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone in the region. I will be coming back here next time for sure.
I normally don’t review but Mas Mellou was such a fantastic stay, and Barbara such a generous host, I had to let people know. The BnB is located in the middle of the vines but a 10-15 minute drive to Orange and Chateauneuf-du-pape, so plenty to do. Our host gave us fantastic local recommendations and set up a great wine tasting for us. The pool is a plus on hot days! A really great base to explore the Avignon-Orange area, but also a very quiet and relaxing place if you just want to sit and read a book.
Very cute, modern American Motel style, parking just in front of rooms.
The breakfast was fantastic, definitely 4+ star hotel level! Room was small, but sufficient for an overnight stay, nice interior design helps to feel comfortable as well. Ventilation was a bit difficult, as you have only windows on one side and can’t open them fully as people can walk just in front of them. Air conditioning was a circulating air type.
Noël, the owner, is an excellent host. He was so helpful and attentive.
I only stayed one night. The room was comfortable and extremely clean.
The hotel is centrally located; close to many restaurants and shops. Really ideal.
Breakfast was a buffet with plenty to choose from.
There is a large courtyard to sit, eat and relax.
Excellent value.
Beautiful villa within easy walking distance of the centre of Orange. Astrid is a wonderful host who welcomed us on arrival and looked after us during our two night stay. We enjoyed the fresh produce at breakfast and the small pool was a fantastic place to cool down and relax after sight-seeing.
A fantastic gem of a hotel, in a location that is great for a stopover (close to motorway) and also for exploring Orange, which is well worth a visit.
We only stayed one night, but would choose to stay longer.
Incredibly friendly and helpful management.
Nice, clean hotel in the middle of a beautiful town called Orange with good restaurants and nice old Roman buildings. Really liked the beautiful bathroom with rain shower. Parking space in courtyard for 8 Euro a night.
We thoroughly enjoyed the pool. The family owners who live on the property were friendly, attentive, and accommodating. Breakfast was good and the access to Orange and all its attractions very convenient.
Our stay in Orange was fantastic. We enjoyed every minute of it. The hotel was comfortable and clean. Spacious and nicely decorated. And we appreciated the air conditioner too.
Very functional hotel but the best part was the caring staff. Good location I liked it that they offered a smaller, more economical breakfast option alongside the big spread.
The location of the hotel is perfect, it’s right in the center of Orange. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the hotel has a cosy atmosphere.
Location was good near highway. Breakfast was horrible. Parking was ok, at least the area is gated. The hotel is shabby, 2 star but promoted as 3 star.
