Friendly and sociable hostess (who also speaks excellent English) makes a point of welcoming and seeing off guests personally on arrival and departure. I was offered (at the booking stage) the option of an evening meal but I don't eat in the evening. Other guests evidently enjoyed the meal occasion. Room (bedding) and ensuite (towels) were tip-top. Location is quiet and peaceful in this renovated farmstead. Breakfast (continental) was modest (tea/coffee, juice, yoghurt, breads.pastries and choice of jams), coffee was good.
L'Auberge de Vauclair is a recently renovated bed and breakfast in Bouconville-Vauclair, where guests can make the most of its garden and shared lounge.

We were the only guests; made very welcome and left to pic-nic in the dining room/kitchen. Wonderfully quirky decoration to bed room and bathroom.
Located on the banks of the Ailette River, Hôtel du Golf de l'Ailette, The Originals Relais offers panoramic views of the lake and modern rooms with a private balcony.
The rooms are incredibly small. They look much larger in the photos. The bed had a visible 'sinking' area near the head side. The corridor is loud when people are walking by. There were not enough towels provided and getting more was difficult due to language barrier. Parking was limited as there was a whole crew of workers staying at the property and we had to park offsite one night.
The first night we were there we waited at the bar for 25 minutes trying to get a glass of wine, meanwhile multiple people walked by us without helping. One waiter even went into the bar, poured himself a whisky, and walked away without acknowledging us. The bar was also filthy with other drinks and used glasses. The next morning all the dishes from dinner the night before were still on the tables, and you have to walk through the dinner area to get to breakfast. Breakfast is fine, nothing special.
