Walked to everything. Loved the charm of Villa Harriet. Elise packed us breakfast to go the morning we left. Nice coffee & bar open in the late afternoons. She made arrangements for a wine tour.

we have stayed at the Arcé several times over the years. It keeps its standards high though is a little old fashioned by today's standards. The breakfast and dining is very high class; though this time the evening dinner menu didn't change during our stay which was a little disappointing.
Beautiful, picture perfect, historic ,friendly lovely town with plenty of restaurants and bars / cafes to choose . Easy to navigate and safe to stroll around .town and along the lovely river walk. All shop and restaurants owners were helpful, and often made accommodations for late diners like us. It is important to either make dinner reservations at the busiest & most scenic dinner establishments and/or show up early to order the nightly "specials."
Thursday is the open market day filled with local , farm fresh foods! Enjoyed purchasing from these merchants particularly because I learned more about the surrounding area and livelihood of resdents.

On our short stay we visited the centre of the old town of St Jean Pied de Port and the citadel. The views from the citadel are worth the climb, as well as walking the walls. The Port St Jacques and the arriving pilgrims doing the Camino/Compostella add interest and colour too.
