Nothing! The room stank of gloss paint - it was overpowering. The bed was ok, however the linen was “brand new” and still had the manufacturers dressing on it. The bathroom had a lock on the outside of the door, but, importantly , not one on the inside of the door. The mirror was suspended by string, was heavy, and if dislodged would have caused serious damage. There were no net curtains, to provide some privacy at ground floor level. The television didn’t work. The only light switch in the room meant having to switch off, by the door, and then blindly find your way to bed. There was no catering, no breakfast, and no evening meal. The man on the desk was very rude and not helpful, or interested. To be charged £120, for this lack of any hospitality, is an insult and a disgrace. The “hotel” should be closed until such time as it is able to provide any hospitality. The description on booking.com, is absolutely and totally misleading. We were advised £100 and then billed for £120, adds insult to injury. And it makes our faith in booking.com, severely tested, and in doubt for any future bookings. There are many other booking agents.

Charming hotel located in a small village of thatched cottages. We only stayed one night as a stop-over on our way to see other parts of the UK. I did not research the area to see what was near by for those who may want to stay more nights. Loved the decor and had a lovely outside garden area to relax, and enjoy drinks or meal. Food was very good, reasonably priced and friendly service. Dinner service was a bit slow however.

Banbury itself is not the greatest spot (I used to live around the area for many years myself before moving away) however, there are so many other places to visit it doesn't matter. Banbury is excellent for grocery shopping with all tastes catered for and a range of supermarkets from Lidl up to Waitrose. Enjoy !

Banbury has a good shopping retail park called Gateway which is a drive away and on a bus route.
Town centre has lots of cafes, a few decent pubs and cocktail bars. Not sure about restaurants in the town but travel a few miles out of town , you’ll find some good pubs/ restaurants.
Lock29 in the shopping precinct is vibrant and a good choice of foods on offer by different vendors. Behind the precinct is the Banbury canal with a few food outlets, cinema and pub.

Came back for a family visit. I was born here. The town has grown, and along with it, the traffic, which is very heavy, but I suppose that comes with growth..
So many beautiful places to visit all within an easy drive of Banbury make it a n ideal location to stay.
We found great places for evening meals, light afternoon snacks, in fact so many we were amazed.

We were using Banbury as a base to visit relatives and did not explore Banbury in depth, so cannot give an authoritative view. It is actually a good base to visit places and is well positioned off the M40. (we moved on to a planned trip to Straford upon Avon after the 3 nights stay)
Sian is a great host, on hand of you need her yet she doesn't intrude on your space.
Avonleigh is well located for all that you need to visit in Banbury. A small guest house with parking, very well maintained rooms, homemade flapjacks on the welcome tray. Breakfast is what ever you so desire and cooked to perfection. Sian also allows you to keep any specialist dietary foods in the breakfast room fridge. This is the second time that i have stayed here whilst visiting family in the area and it won't be the last! Great value for money.
Breakfast is the weak point. Booked hoping for options of a breakfast menu and hot fresh coffee and instead got shrink-qrapped croissant & muffins and coffee bag with a kettle that barely reached the power socket. What's more, there were staff mopping the floors in the morning but, despite there being a nice coffee machine on the bar, they would not/could not make guests coffee. Such a cute property that couldn't rustle up a quality breakfast was a major disappointment.
What a beautiful village this hotel is set in. The hotel itself is so quaint and refurbished to a high standard. There are some areas that need some attention but it's an old building at the end of the day.
They were short staffed but the staff that were on duty worked really hard and were very friendly and welcoming.
We ate in the restaurant on our first night and the food was lovely and well presented.
Michelle, the owner, catered for our every needs. The room was very comfortable and exactly as the photo showed on the website. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and the large table catering for all guests, created lots of conversation. We would recommend staying at Banbury Cross B & B if you are in the area. It is very convenient for the town, which is just 5 minutes walk from the house.
Ayman and Julie could not have been more friendly or helpful. They made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The Guest House was in a very good position, both for Cherwell Hospital and walking into Banbury centre. The room and facilities were very clean and comfortable. There was a good breakfast choice, and the cooked food was amazing. Will definitely stay again when in the area.
The room was large and very clean although the sloping ceiling and very low door proves a challenge for someone who is 6ft. The bathroom was very clean and the breakfast was excellent and served promptly and with a smile. Parking was easy and we were met by friendly staff. I must say it was nice to see a hotel still adhering to Covid rules. So many have dispensed with them to their detriment.
Lovely property set within a small village, very quiet at night, parked car on road opposite property, safe and secure nice residential area, 10 mins into centre of Banbury 15 mins to M40. Plenty of restaurants around of all types. Breakfast was just perfect, freshly cooked and great selection, cereal, full cooked breakfast, cafetiere of freshly ground coffee, nice selection of toast,.
A lovely hotel in beautiful location. The staff were wonderful ; from reception staff to bar/restaurant staff.
My room was gorgeous. It had a lounge area and a wonderful, large, comfortable bed. There was an old fireplace and beams. Tea/coffee facilities plus some water, juice and fruit.
Breakfast was great. Continental or a lovely hot selection from a menu.
Amazing hospitality and very welcoming family-run owners. Thank you all! Easy large free parking on site and less than 5 minutes drive to Banbury city centre and M40. The room is beautifully newly designed, and the bed is super comfortable. Breakfast is tasty too, with a large proportion and 5-star service! I will definitely book again!
great location - 10 minute walk to town. Lovely friendly hosts - gave excellent tip on where to eat. Lovely comfy bed and bright spacious room with nice ensuite. Beautiful gardens - if in Banbury area again will definitely use this B & B again. Great also if visiting Oxford.
It was a lovely little hotel/guesthouse with great pub and restaurant combined. When in the area again, will definitely chose to stay there. Breakfast (included) was first class, hoping next time I stay, that English marmalade is available !!.
The breakfast was good, I liked the fact that it was freshly cooked and tailored to my requirements. Everything else was pretty much as I hoped for. It was nice to stay in a hotel with character.
Close to the railway station and all the pubs and restaurants in Banbury.
Lovely quiet area and not disturbed by other guests banging doors all night.
Far better than we expected.
Mum and I stayed here and it was perfect for us. Great location within Banbury and the surrounding areas. Made very welcome
Will definitely be staying there again
Quiet area, private parking, very friendly and helpful owners, great views and good facilities. Well worth a trip to Hook Norton Brewery for breakfast too.
