Hotel Eilean Iarmain, hotel in Breakish

In a picturesque bay in the south of Skye, this hotel has beautiful views over the Sound of Sleat and the distant hills of Knoydart.

The staff were very pleasant. The dear lady who checked us in(unfortunately forgot her name) was so pleasant. The place had no mobile network and that feeling of being cut off was great especially coming from a busy and bustling city like London. Everyone at the hotel were informal and the people around seemed warm and felt like a big family. I highly recommend to stay here for a day or two when on a trip to the Isle of Skye.

House of Juniper, hotel in Breakish

Set in Broadford, 14 km from Kyle of Lochalsh, House of Juniper offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar.

It's potentially a lovely hotel. However, this is not 'luxury' accommodation as advertised. I would say it's more of a Premier Inn set up. We had to go find someone for reception and there is no lounge or bar for guests. Booking the restaurant as a guest ..... we were made to feel like it was a favour to book for a 5pm slot. Food was mediocre at best and over-priced. Breakfast was ok and lovely young woman on duty. We booked a top class room with a sea view - £280. It was in the attic with a tiny window with limited view to the sea. No warning of two flights of steep, shallow stairs. Luxury? Ikea type set up, with large containers of green 'stuff' that is passed off as toiletries. A matter of taste, but what was an old Manse and Church has had the heart ripped out of it. No remnants if it's history or culture.

It was a great location from which to travel to various areas of the Isle of Skye. It was important to us to be near to a grocery store and there wan one about a mile away. There are lots of places to eat in Broadford close by.

    Breakish is a quiet hamlet.

Breakish is a quiet hamlet. It's a convenient location for visitors to Skye: it's a 5-10 minute drive to Broadford, where there's a supermarket, petrol station and restaurants. It's a similarly short distance from the Skye Bridge. There's a small coffee shop in Breakish itself that does good toasties.

    Nice, quiet and comfortable.

Nice, quiet and comfortable. Breakish stopover allows for touring northern Skye island. It is close to Broadford, where purchasing food and petrol is very convenient. Co-op has the lowest price for fuel. One can also see other small villages around. Portree and Storr are within 35 mile range. Eilean donan castle is a 20 minute drive. Nice views from outside. Not worth paying the fees to enter. That is just my point of view. They don't take American express. There is a nice bakery on the side street, near the castle (Manuela's bakery). Nice, fresh sourdough bread/coffee! Saw a lot of pastries too. We did not try those, as we don't eat sugar. But, seemed nice. And they take American express! Be mindful that some of the stores remain closed on Sunday's.

Brilliant accommodation, and privacy was great.

Brilliant accommodation, and privacy was great. Beach was walking distance from the cabin, and the location was a great base camp for accessing the rest of Skye. Comfortable facilities, in a relaxing atmosphere. All you could need is provided… comfortable bed, good shower, log burner, washing machine, tv with sky box and Netflix, and a strong WiFi signal. Well done 👍🏻, Susan

    Beautiful, peaceful tranquil location.

Beautiful, peaceful tranquil location. To be woken by cuckoos in the morning was bliss! Ideally located to explore S.Skye. Very near the Skye Bridge. Only stayed 2 nights on journey south but would love to use Breakish as a base to explore Skye. Not easy to find somewhere to eat on Sundays, advise booking for an evening meal. Great to visit Kyle of Lochalsh and research history. Wonderful place to look for fossils on the beach.

Not a lot in Breakish itself but there is good scenery and it is possible to walk to the beach, sea otters can be seen there. There are several restaurants and cafes within a 10 minute drive….book if you can, they were all very busy (the Claymore doesn’t take bookings). There is also a CoOp supermarket and fuel station in Broadford (10 minute drive). The fuel is less expensive there. There is currently a 5p/litre island subsidy…fuel was 8p litre cheaper than in Lochalsh.
