Stunning & unique apt in Culross, hotel in Culross

Stunning & unique apt in Culross in Culross features accommodation with free WiFi, 25 km from Hopetoun House, 34 km from Edinburgh Zoo and 36 km from Murrayfield Stadium.

Easy retrieval of keys via lock box for which the code was communicated well in advance. Overall, excellent communication by Julie. Wonderful apartment, located in the centre of Culross. Spitting distance from the Red Lion pub, wit friendly staff and good food. Booking is required though! If you are not comfortable at leaving your car parked in the (narrow) streets, there is a free large car park a short walk away. Julie had foreseen a basket with some oat hot pots and some yummy biscuits and popcorn. This was very welcome as we had not had the time to shop for breakfast. Very good and creative use of space. All the things that you need for a holiday stay were available.

Well preserved old town with lots of (industrial) heritage.

Well preserved old town with lots of (industrial) heritage. Some nice walks in and around the town. Nice pub with good food, friendly staff and 'out of the ordinary' interior decoration. Can also recommend the Pottery/Biscuit café. We had an excellent lunch there and they have a lovely little art gallery with stuff made by local artists/crafts people. The hanging gardens were looking stunning. Some lovely walks around as well. We even spotted some seals off the coast. The only downside was the walk around Preston island. One side has interesting info on the old Salt pans, but for 3/4 of the walk you are walking around the basin where Scottish Power dumped the ash of the old power plant, which is fenced off by ugly high wired fence and warning signs to keep out.

Culross is really pretty, loads of history.

Culross is really pretty, loads of history. We ate at the Red Lion pub twice. The atmosphere was good and the staff were super efficient, and friendly. The food is pub food, but they catered for vegans and the portions were generous. You can walk around Culross easily but might be challenging for people with mobility issues as many of the roads are cobbled. The little "palace" is definitely worth a visit. We had lunch in a cafe that I think was called Biscuit, it's to the right of the Palace and before the Town House. They make the best sandwiches I have ever had and they had milk alternatives, which made me very happy.
