Comfortable accomodation in a very beautiful area, the apartment is set up beautifully and was peaceful. We enjoyed a yummy cooked breakfast with lots of extras. Linda is a lovely friendly host who made us feel super welcome.

This remote property up on the moors is on a working farm surrounded by endless moorland fields and sky. We loved the Granary. It’s small but has everything you might need tastefully decorated. The hot tub was a bonus although rainy weather meant I finally got in there at 7.30am on bank holiday Monday when the sun shone. It’s well located for visiting the Roman forts, Corbridge and walking along the wall.

For 2 people it is very spacious. There were many great little touches like milk in fridge and complimentary cereals and chocolate. Beautiful location. Pub next door that served fantastic food. Great friendly staff. Cottage was lovely. Cant wait to go back.

Haltwhistle was a great location to access Hadrians wall and the Roman forts , we were there on May bank holiday Sunday and almost all the town was shut up except a couple of restaurants and a co op shop. On BH Monday there was one pub serving food and they had shut the kitchen by 7.15 pm having run out of food. I found the town deserted which was a shame.We ate in Jethros cafe on the Sunday night which was great , lovely food and waitresses , can recommend that cafe.carolineUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

Liked Haltwhistle been before , Good Centre for the Roman Wall experience, Would recommend to anybody. Also could leave you car as there is a good bus service in the Town to Newcastle Alston Carlisle and the Roman sites, Good food available in the town also supermarkets. No Post Office or Bank though.

The town is marketed as being the geometric centre of Great Britain. It may well be. It is ideally situated a short drive from Hexham and roughly midway between Carlisle and Newcastle. We only spent one night but it is in a perfect spot for visiting Hadrian's Wall. It is near the best museum- Vindolanda and the best section of the wall (Cawfield Quarry) if you want to get a good taste of the Wall but only have a limited amount of time, like we did.

I was walking Hadrian's Wall so it was great that we had the pub on our doorstep for our evening meal and the property was so close to the Hadrian's Wall path. It was lovely being in such clean air in the heart of Northumberland National park.

Near to the Roman forts we were visiting along Hadrian's Wall and right in the centre of Haltwhistle close to shops, pubs etc. We had been sent the code for the entrance door and had no problem accessing the property. The first floor room was small but very cosy and comfortable; we really appreciated the small refrigerator in our room and especially the fresh milk for tea and coffee instead of the silly little plastic pots normally available!

The owner and staff go the extra mile to make you welcome and even have a FREE shuttle bus to take you back to the wall to continue your walk(Haltwistle is a good 2 miles away and that is a long walk at the end of a 14-16 mile day). This gorgeous farm stay was spotless, well equiped and welcoming. The hosts were very unassuming, obliging and they spoilt us with extra treats. It was a real treat to see the farm animals and go walking down country lanes. One of the best places we have stayed in the UK.
