Situated 29 km from Launceston Castle, The Bickford Arms Inn offers 4-star accommodation in Holsworthy and has a garden, a restaurant and a bar.

We found The Bickford Arms pleasurable and comfortable. The room was bright and airy but still gave a feeling of warmth and cosines. The staff were so very accommodating and went out of their way to please us. It was a pleasure to talk to Keith about any subject.

the property was superb with everything needed for a trouble free self catering break. well maintained and obviously cared for. the only downside was the state of the last eight miles of roads to the property, single track roads with few passing places.

A charming Cottage, very clean, homely and inviting

A charming Cottage, very clean, homely and inviting Pity the space outside the entrance does not belong to this Delight, especially as there's enough room for a large car to park and not restrict the Lane. However, I would book again because the Cottage and "Duke Of York" Pub (100yds away) had the 'Welcome' factor, all the staff and villagers were so friendly.I would mention that the weather was dreadful, very wet and windy, so it was reassuring that everything else more than made up for it.!!

Iddesleigh is a tiny village deep in the farm country near Dartmoor National Park. There's a lovely old church and one pub/Inn, on severely limited hours due to covid, but VERY nice when open. Must stress that this lovely self-catered cottage requires self sufficiency: Okehampton has a Waitrose, a CoOp and an Aldi, but it's 20-30 minutes away over winding single track roads so come prepared. We wanted to be polite so we didn't wander the village, but I did buy fresh eggs from a lady with a sign off the green, and they were amazing eggs. The residents appreciate their privacy but are very kind when you interact in an egg-buying way. :)

The village is charming and fairly isolated so obviously you'll need a car. It's in a good position to explore West/North Devon. Parking for pub guests isn't guaranteed but didn't prove to be a problem. The pub can get quite busy so if dining it's a good idea to book a table.

A small village hamlet in the Devon countryside

A small village hamlet in the Devon countryside The 15th century Public house is the main attraction and has a good reputation for lunches & evening meals. The author of 'War Horse' lived in the village and the Duke of York public house is mentioned in the book.
