The Howard Arms is a home away from home. I always stay there when I visit Ilmington, which is where I was born and raised until the age of 9. I thoroughly enjoy the ambience, the rooms and the staff. And I am always made welcome. There is an excellent restaurant and for those so inclined a very well provisioned bar plus a lovely garden for relaxing in good weather.

I stayed here for two nights mid-week. The proprietor is also an excellent host, and assisted me with some local transportation. The pub/restaurant was pleasantly busy, and the evening menu-and food-excellent. I stayed in the largest suite upstairs, which suited me perfectly for working. You need to be quite nimble to make it up there, but there are other rooms on a lower level. Ample parking, and beautiful gardens to the rear.

Ilmington is well placed for visiting Chipping Campden and Hidcote Gardens, and for walks. We had coffee at the delightful community shop and cafe and found the pretty village full of very friendly people. Delightful.
It was a beautiful cosy hotel with a wonderful open fire. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the service was brilliant. We had a very comfortable room with lovely views. The room had extras like amazing homemade gingerbread and nice toiletries. We felt completely at home . There are so many amazing places to visit in the locality. We really enjoyed our trip to Cirencester and Stow on the Wold . We also popped into Stratford on Avon and Leamington Spa.
This beautiful 'chocolate box' hotel oozes charm and warm hospitality. We had a wonderful stay with the friendliest staff who couldn't have been more good natured and attentive (with lots of local humour thrown in). We'd particularly like to mention Jo who put a smile on our faces with her cheery service.
Thank you all for making our stay so enjoyable. We would not hesitate to recommend this gem of a hotel in such an idyllic English countryside setting!

The location of the pub was very quiet, facilities and size of the room very good. Everything worked. Also recommended for a longer stay. We were passing through. Lighting insufficient for women who value make-up. A shortcoming that is common in most hotels (even in 5 star hotels / 18 years experience with holidays in the UK).
This is our second stay and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time which was the reasoning for us returning!! it has beautiful old English charm and wonderful staff and it’s a great place to relax and use as a Centre base for your travels throughout the Cotswolds.
Lovely setting in the beautiful village of Ilmington. Friendly staff and an imaginative menu with a reasonably priced wine list.
We will be coming to visit again.
Had a fabulous night at The Howard Arms. Delicious supper & breakfast was incredible, setting us up fir the day. Friendly lovely staff. Will definitely be back.
Lovely country hotel with a cosy bar area and restaurant with excellent food. Ideal for a weekend break to the Cotswolds. Our room was spacious and comfortable
