Lovely city with some really beautiful parts. Clearly a seedy side (there was a major assault not 50m from our door on one night!), which is true of any city, but Inverness is small enough for it to feel cheek by jowl with the nicer parts. Great range of places to eat and things to do. Easily walkable to everywhere.

Inverness is a beautiful city.
Inverness is a beautiful city. Nice shopping streets and shops. Many nice restaurants with varied menu options. We recommend Aye Eats for the Scottish experience and food. Also, recommend House of Aran for shopping. Both are with in walking distance of our accommodation.

It’s a surprisingly small down that feels a bit empty in the day - mostly comes to life at night with all the live music in bars. For tourists, seems mostly a stopping point en route to Loch Ness rather than a destination of its own.

The location is spot on. Parking a 5 minute walk away. Paid £60 extra to make it a triple room which meant a camp bed was placed in the room…not impressed, couldn’t sleep in it, had to share double bed.

Easy to get to city whether travelling by road, rail, bus and air (air port slightly out of Inverness). We travelled by train and we had lunch in the Ash Restaurant next to the railway station as we had time to kill before we got into our apartment and food was excellent. We also visited the Palace hotel for afternoon tea which was also good.
Plenty of eateries, pubs and shops

Inverness is perfect for a holiday where you want to...
Inverness is perfect for a holiday where you want to prioritize gentleness, quiet, & rest but balanced with time outdoors & access to general amenities (restaurants, pubs, historic sites, etc). Ease of access to the rest of the highlands (and numerous day tour options for the Isle of Skye) are a definite plus for those wanting to go further afield.
Emma and Josef are excellent hosts! Really wonderful people and enjoyed chatting with them! They were very organised and also very flexible to meet our needs. Breakfast was wonderful and there were so many choices! Emma was a real dear to cater for my wife's allergies. The room was very spacious, comfortable and with a good view of the nearby countryside. The area is very quiet and peaceful and also close to Culloden Moor, Inverness and other locations with a car. We would definitely stay here if we visit Scotland again!
If you want to experience a piece of Scotland, then stay at this property. It's a family hunting lodge converted to a B&B. The host goes above and beyond to accommodate, is super engaging and interesting. The property was originally built in the 1800's and added on since and has all the modern conveniences and stylishly decorated. Breakfast was amazing - you won't need to eat until dinner. We had fresh baked goods upon arrival and fresh bread for breakfast. My only disappointment is that we only booked one night.
Absolutely perfect!!! It was the best B&B during our 3 weeks stay in Scotland. Marion and her husband are so friendliy and interested. They gave us plenty of good tips. They always take time for their guests. The breakfast was delicious. The whole house and the rooms are nice decotated with attention to each detail. We felt welcome at anytime. The location is perfect (only a few minutes by foot to Inverness). We really look forward to staying again at the Strome Lodge. Thank you very much!
It was the best hostel I have been in my long travel through Scotland. Good relation quality/price, and in the center of Inverness, near the Castle. I was in a room for four, clean, comfortable, with space. Shared bathroom are very good, modern and clean. I did not used the other facilities. They have space where to leave lugage between checkout and gone... and the rest room is so nice! Definitely, a place to choose in Inverness.
I checked in bit latter than normal but Phil was there to greet me, he also kindly let me store my bike in his shed over night (very grateful as was in Scotland to cycle the Northcoast 500). The room was warm and cosy and clean and the rest of the house looked very smart and welcoming. The breakfast was all laid out beautifully with lots to choose from, hot and cold, there was also someone there to help serve the breakfast!
The house was of a really lovely standard, very clean and a great location just outside Inverness. Great surprise of a small park outside for the kids to play on.
The house had all the amenities and equipment you would need for a really comfortable stay, couldn’t really fault it at all.
The comms with the owner was always great too.
Would definitely use again when we decide to return to Scotland!
Perfect, simply perfect. A whole house with two bedrooms, a large, comfortable living room, a separate dining room and a large kitchen plus a little terrace area. Everything perfectly clean and in good state. Inner town in Inverness is only 5 minutes away by foot, and the Tesco alomost next door. The best acccomodation we had on our three weeks trip to Scotland. Nice communication with the owners.
The bed was so comfy, and more importantly the shower had been fixed from when I was staying in the same room only last week. The staff here are so helpful and friendly. Also, it's a delight to see classy biscuits on the tea tray which also allows for more than one cup of tea/coffee, instead of the usual cheap and easy style of other hotels I've visited so far in Inverness.
Beinn Mhor Lodge was the best place we stayed during our road trip in Scotland. The host was absolutely lovely - felt welcomed and cared for as family. The rooms and property as a whole are immaculate, modern, clean, comfortable and beautiful to look at. Would highly recommend staying here - short distance to the city centre - gives a lovely break from the noise and hurry.
Good value, breakfast included - standard across all Holiday Inn Express properties we stayed at in Scotland. The property modern, well maintained and clean. The room was clean, the bathroom upto date and well appointed. Good shower, with good water flow. The room was of decent size even with the sofa bed opened for our group. All in all, a very satisfactory stay.
The hotel adjoins Inverness railway station and so was ideal for us as we were taking a rail tour of Scotland. The magnificent interior reflects its Victorian origins. We found the staff helpful and friendly, with a good selection of food at breakfast and an excellent dinner on the one night we ate in the hotel. Our room was exceptionally large and comfortable.
An absolute gem of a place! It had everything we needed (plus bonus breakfast foods and snacks). This was our favorite of all the places we stayed at during our entire time in Scotland! Great communication and check in instructions from the host. Parking spot is free and literally right outside the front door!
It was very comfortable and relaxing. Two private bedrooms, bathroom and sitting room. Plenty of room for luggage. Karen is a wonderful hostess. The food she prepared was delicous and she offered the opportunity to try new things. Her knowledge of Scotland and tips of places to see was very helpful.
We stayed in Scotland for a week, travelling from Inverness to Skye and back. This was the cheapest property we stayed in by about 30%. It was the quietest room during the night of the lot and offered a delicious kipper and egg breakfast which no one else matched. Really good deal!
Having stayed in 10 different hotels during our tour of Scotland, this was without doubt the best, location was good, our room was large, clean and very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant and the food was amazing, will definitely be returning for a longer stay!
Russell was fun, accommodating, and made an excellent breakfast! We wish we could have had breakfast that first day but our tour left too early. Great little b&b - it's exactly what you picture for a b&b in Scotland! Cozy and lovely
This place was amazing. Wonderful host, great location, great food. It is the perfect place for anyone exploring the Scotland Highlands in and around Inverness and Loch Ness. Can’t say enough. This was a great little hotel.
The best apartment we stayed in during out Scotland trip - modern, very well equipped, comfortable. We were greeting with a bouquet of flowers and a range of snacks for breakfast. Would definitely come again once in Inverness.
