We love the facilities and everything are well organized. The location is not that fae from Kirkwall’s center. We can reach almost everywhere by walking distance. Kirkwall caters well for its visitors with an array of quality shops selling a range of local products. The coffee shops are close by and coffee is tasty. There a lot of things to see as you wander through the town. The Cathedral dominates the town and is full of history alongside the bishops and earls house. However there is so much more to explore outwith Kirkwall if you are interested in Neolithic structures, naval warfare history or the wonderful sights of nature.

A visit to Kirkwall Church is beautiful & full of history the place is so calming when you enter those huge church doors. This is my 2nd visit Orkney loved it. They have quaint streets dating back to 1200's or more but with the Lidl, Tesco + Co-op supermarkets you can get all you need at these stores. A place combining plenty of history of different periods (we went on a fantastic trike trip (https://orkneytriketours.co.uk/) - great experience, visiting the Italian Chapel, standing stones and Scara Brae. The town itself has a 12-century cathedral, historical ruins, and museums, including the wireless communications museum, which was created and is being run by enthusiasts. There are also different daily art groups at Gallery 25 (https://www.facebook.com/Number25Kirkwall/?locale=en_GB) which we enjoyed joining. And the local English is very melodic - it is a pleasure listening to it! I can't say we discovered the fantastic seafood, but there is a lovely shop, The Brig Larder (https://www.jollysoforkney.co.uk/pages/the-brig-larder, one can also order local delicacies to be delivered) - again with lovely staff and a good selection of locally sourced dairy, cheese, seafood and preserves.

Kirkwall is a beautiful little city.

Kirkwall is a beautiful little city. I came for the incredible Neolithic history and to search for family ties in the area. There are many jewelry shops as well as artists studios and tweed or wool shops. The museum is also fantastic. It’s a fibre artist’s dream.

Good location just out of Kirkwall with plenty of parking. Our room was spotlessly clean with comfy bed and two comfy easy chairs. There was a great choice of breakfast from continental to full Scottish breakfast and all freshly cooked to order. Our hostess was great and obviously very experienced at running a very efficient service together with providing a warm welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend.

Staff very kind and helpful and went the extra mile to help me. It’s only a few minutes walking distance from shops. If coming via boat to Island, the peer is two miles away. Do arrange a taxi in advance. The hotel looks over the bay. I would definitely stay again. They also allowed me to leave my luggage after check out while exploring the shops as there are no left luggage facilities in Kirkwall.

For un "unmanned hotel" I seen the owner more often that most manned hotels. Andrew was lovely, constantly helpful and always trying to assist. The hotel was clean, well maintained and comfotable enough. The location is PERFECT for a night out or in my case doing work on the mainstreet with everything within walking distance. There is parking for a car and plenty of restaurants nearby.

Hotel has a perfect location around the Kirkwall harbour area, everything is a city centre is in a walking distance. Staff is located in a sister hotel where also happens check-in/check-out procedures. Unfortunatelly was able to stay only one night out of booked (and fully paid) two, cause of the "traditional reliability" of Loganair who cancelled the flight at the time of boarding.

Great location for hotel, good car parking close to entrances. We enjoyed a lovely meal on 2nd evening. The hotel is close to centre of Kirkwall and a good base for travelling round Orkney. The bedroom was at the back so there was very little noisy background.
