Sound of the River, hotel in Llyswen

Swn yr Afon offers accommodation in Talgarth. The property boasts views of the mountains is 48 km from Newport.

A huge array of breakfast food and more was left for us in the kitchenette. It was lovely - lots of choice and great quality products. There was also a very nice bottle of wine, Welsh cakes, chocolates and fruit. The weather was unseasonably cold for May, but the heating sorted that out in just a few minutes. The nicest bathroom towels too. It's a small place but really comfortable, and Sharon was extremely welcoming and kind. We will definitely go back (for next year's Hay festival) if we can book it again! Although we were mostly out at the Hay Festival, Talgarth itself is a lovely place, with loads of amenities and shops, and of course, the Sound of the River
