Lovely clean and comfy room, plenty big enough considering it's the world's narrowest hotel! The shower was nice and warm and we had an amazing cooked breakfast. The location is ideal in the main street, handy for pubs, shops and dining out. We would definitely stay at The Star again, many thanks for making us so welcome!

Like most small towns these days, Moffat town was a little run down, probably not recovered from the Covid pandemic, small businesses have sadly suffered. I should think that Moffat would have been a thriving market town in its past. There are a few eateries we tried (Brodies restaurant) (Star Hotel) and pubs in the town. We ate at the Italian restaurant Claudios. It is in an excellent location being close to the A74(M) for travellers going North or South bound.
The town is easy to get around and is a quiet place.

Well I came to go walking and did so. i found enough to keep me going for a couple of full days and some inspiration for future walks. I walked from the hotel to the Devil's beeftub and back, Well worth it through lovely rolling countryside. Didn't bother eating out in the evening...not my thing really, but if I had done so i'd have used the balmoral.
The town museum was very good, i thought, with nice staff

A lovely little market town with everything you need. Free parking in the town was a bonus and lots of choice of coffee shops. Small park nearby with leisure lake and play area for children only a short walk out of Moffat.
Close to motorway so excellent place to stop off with lots of scenic walks from Moffat following Annandale water. Parking for walks just out of town on the right as head out towards station park .

Central for touring the excellent border's area. Town has good choice of accommodation and food outlets. Town centre parking is good and free. In general the town is a little tired and needs a bit of a spruce up!

All in all it was the most pleasant and perfect stay and experience to us.We felt there was no bad bits about the place, but is was tastefully decorated and restored environment, going respectfully with the historical era of the building. Delicious food, well thought out everything about customers stay. Many thanks and warm recommendations.
This little place was truly a gem! Husband and I came on a whim and were pleasantly surprised. it gave us the Scotland experience we were looking for, the hometown locals only vibe. The food in the restaurant was very good and the people were very friendly! Really the whole town. Even the teenagers causing some good old fashioned trouble. We even got to talk to the owners. Then we went across the street to a pub and witnessed some Scots singing. It was literally, everything. We will definitely be back.
My advice to anyone travelling around the Moffat area is to look no further. Probably the best B&B I've stayed at. Everything was first class, from the coffee and cake on arrival, to the terrific variety and quality of the breakfast. Bradley and Ron were the perfect hosts, unobtrusive but available, and their attention to detail would put many supposedly superior hotels to shame. How they do it at the price is beyond me.
The whole experience was excellent. I particularly liked the spacious shower in the room, the lovely linen for the bed and bathroom, the evening meal and the breakfast. There is a nice garden where we could bring the dog and Moffat is a good place to break the journey from Scotland to England. Two nice American girls (sisters) combined professionalism with friendliness at the bar and restaurant.
Buchan Guest House was just as we remembered it from the late 1980's when we last stayed there - nostalgic!
It's in a super location with parking out the front and at the rear.
Moffat is a great location for exploring the lowlands of Scotland and stopping off on the way North or South on the A74(M).
We were made very welcome and had a very good room.
We would come back again.
Very friendly staff. Room clean and spacious. Breakfast was nice - full English and the pancake options both very tasty. Ideally located in Moffat with free car parking opposite. Very close to the motorway for anyone travelling to/from Scotland. Seemed to be very much a motor bikers paradise with map rooms, suggested routes and secure motorbike parking etc.
The breakfast was superb. With a choice of fruit or cereal to start with and yoghurt. Followed by a full cooked plate. Very tasty sausages. Toast with locally produced jam and good coffee. Really friendly and welcoming. Good stop off for travelling to and from Scotland. Moffat hills to be explored along with an interesting town centre.
Probably the best accommodation we have been in . Beautiful house, spotless rooms, fantastic and helpful owners. Highly highly recommendable for families. Very nice location if traveling between England and Scotland and many things to be seen in the area. Stay at least Teo nights. I would not be surprised if it gets an award.
Beautifully cooked and served traditional Scottish breakfast. The location was good, being on a quiet road with country views, and accessible for the town. As seniors it was a little too far for us to walk into Moffat , but no problem for younger legs. We received a warm welcome and the hospitality was friendly.
Stayed at this hotel lots over the years for family celebration. The change in the hotel is fantastic and the new design &. Luxurious finish is amazing. We stayed in room 5 and had the best sleep ever .room is amazing . Breakfast was excellent. All round I’d give it 5 stars .
This room had a fabulous view of downtown Moffat and a wonderful stone wall. Over breakfast our host filled us in on the long history of the house and his experience renovating it. The room is right downtown, close to everything and the stay was delightful.
Great location in Moffat. Beautiful room and bathroom and spotlessly clean. Lovely home cooked breakfast. John the owner was an excellent and knowledgeable host. Told us lots about the history of the local area and Scotland. We would definitely stay again.
Nice hotel in centre of Moffat. Our room was warm and comfortable and bathroom was fine.
We ate dinner in the restaurant and it was excellent and good value, breakfast was also good.
Good safe off street parking. We would definitely return.
We stayed in the superior room, it was huge! The bathroom was amazing with a roll top bath and walk in shower, it felt like a 4/5 star hotel (with bunkbeds) We would definitely recommend this place for families and definitely stay again.
lovely staff, excellent food. Breakfast fantastic, amazing tasting sausages which were local. first time staying at this hotel but always eat there when visiting Moffat. would definitely stay there again. Nice double bedroom.
Breakfast was adequate, central location for Moffat, street parking outside the hotel. Comfy, clean room, chocolates&biscuits with tea&coffee, with fresh milk, bottled water and coke provided in the fridge in the room.
Conveniently situated for an overnight break on a journey from Scotland to North Wales. Lovely property with high ceilings and some period features. Very friendly and helpful staff.
