The Merchant's Yard, hotel in Pilsley

Set in Tideswell, 12 km from Buxton Opera House, The Merchant's Yard offers accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

The Merchant's Yard massively exceeded our expectations - all the basics were fully met with really nicely laid out rooms and all the details you might want (e.g. luxury toiletries, bathrobes etc). The full English breakfast was one of the nicest I've ever had ANYWHERE and the Sunday roast in the restaurant was also top quality. Service was impeccable with everyone being super friendly and helpful. However, it was the range of little extras that really took them to 10 out of 10: the named car park space, the welcome drink at the bar, the luxury bath soak. Highly highly recommend (and I spent 150 nights in hotels in 2023)

The Fox House by Innkeeper's Collection, hotel in Pilsley

Located within the Peak District National Park, The Fox House by Innkeeper's Collection is an 18th-century country hotel just 20 minutes’ drive from Sheffield city centre.

The room was spacious although the layout was a little strange, Breakfast was good although rather chaotic and badly organised as one poor chap had been left to sort it out all on his own

The views are wonderful, and Pilsley has plenty of connections to nearby villages like Baslow and Edensor. The Devonshire Arms does great food too if you only want a short walk for somewhere to eat. Just be prepared for those long and winding roads!

We liked being able to relax on a comfortable bed after an energetic day walking; also the enormous tasty breakfasts to start each day. We were able to visit Bakewell just a short drive from Pilsley. We ate at 2 different pubs - The Devonshire Arms (Pilsley} and the Devonshire Arms (Baslow). Pilsley is so small it would be impossible to get lost therefore getting around the hamlet is very easy.
