For a modestly priced hotel, the Lord Nelson was excellent. Clean, comfortable and convenient. Both evening meal and breakfast were very good. Staff were friendly and efficient.

The carvery was huge, unexpected bonus on a Tuesday night! The area was very quiet. The hotel was very accommodating of our bikes finding a secure place to lock them away overnight.

It was a reasonable price and the food and staff was very good. Loved the location and it was different from the boring corporate hotels I normally stay in when working.

As the name says.. definitely a queen of B&B. The best property we have stayed in so far. A homey feeling with a touch of 5 star hotel room. The room was spotless and immaculate. A walking dressing and a big toilet. The property has a dining hall which can be used for takeaways. It was only 15mins walk from the high street with many options of nice dine in restaurants and take aways. Would definitely be returning and recommend to our friends and family.

We actually spent most of our time outside Rhymney, so didn't form a detailed impression of it. It is easy enough to get to and from when visiting other sites in the Brecon Beacons. We were pleased to find a takeaway and a petrol station

I did not really stay in Rhymney.
I did not really stay in Rhymney. I had to walk from the railway station to the hotel in Princetown. The views of the countryside were interesting, although it was drizzling on the arrival day. I got some rambling done, in the nearby industrial estate, a nature reserve and in Tredegar. It's a lovely area. Worth visiting. The buses run on Saturdays and weekdays, if you do not drive. I did not have enough time to go rambling thoroughly in the nearby hills . Luckily, I will be moving to the area.

We came to see the trains at the station.
Taxi company I rang was excellent. Star Cabs very reliable turned up as and when requested. Highly recommended.
The Lord Nelson Hotel highly recommended only an hour on the train from Cardiff.
Christine and her staff looked after us and catered to all our needs. Superb customer service and excellent hosts.

Got to hotel parking was hard due to an event.
Got to hotel parking was hard due to an event. Got to the room it was prefect as we had ckean towels and tea/ coffee in room. On suite was ideal and the best thing was the beds they were comfy and clean
We went camping and had a horrible experience, so we left the campsite and stopped at the nearest hotel - which happened to be the Lord Nelson. The staff are incredibly nice and accomodating, the rooms are sparkling clean and the bedsheets smell of detergent. It was absolutely perfect and after what had been an absolutely terrible day, I slept like a baby.
The best bits: super clean; free parking; amazing owner and staff; excellent breakfast
It was very clean even for my clean obsessive wife and room was in very good condition with hair dryer.
Lovely breakfast.
Hotel ideal for having a place where to sleep and visiting the Brecon Beacon.
Staff was very friendly.
Pub is visited by local people which make pleasant.
Room was cleaned every day with clean towels provided.
Overall it was excellent bearing in mind that it is not a luxury accommodation or hotel.
Staff were very welcoming and accommodated all of our needs (two vegans and we were both so grateful of the effort the staff put in to accommodate this when cooking our breakfast!). Hotel was absolutely worth the price- clean and modern rooms and breakfast included, couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay for our trip to Wales!
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel, the beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The hotel is easy to find and placed in a lovely location. The breakfast was delicious, couldn't fault anything and we are definitely going to book again. Thank you to the lovely staff.
Very easy to find the place. Staff so friendly with high standards and very clean room . The hotel has a beautiful location. there is a lot to see above all, beautiful waterfalls and main thing the hotel is so friendly with dog . Thank you so much to having us .
Lovely traditional hotel well located for exploring the Brecon Beacons and surrounding area. Generous sized room with comfy bed. Hosts were friendly and made us feel welcome. Bar had a good mix of guests and locals which made for a great atmosphere.
Incredibly helpful hotel and pub staff who always went above and beyond. Value for money breakfast and accommodation. Main attractions easily accessible with car. Felt like a local!
Very good English breakfast. The room was clean, above the pub, but it was very quiet. Parking space just in front of the hotel or on the road. Very good wi-fi.
