The location was great, very central, plenty of free parking, dog friendly, the pub itself had an old world charm, breakfast was lovely and made to order, even had a couple of extras for our dog who was staying with us!
The bungalow was clean and tidy with pretty much everything you needed, although a tea towel would have been handy in the kitchen!

Ruth and Rachel, the owners do a great job.
They are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is well cooked and well presented, and eaten in a lovely airy room. Our room was comfortable. The village is delightful, with several beautiful walks available directly from the village.

Rosedale Abbey is a superb location if you are looking to relax and unwind. It’s way off the beaten track so not handy for anything, but this is prefect for a chill out holiday!
There are some lovely pubs serving delicious food in Rosedale Abbey, we loved The Coach House!
It’s a very picturesque village with tea rooms, pubs and very little traffic! You will see a lot of wildlife too from Black Grouse to Highland Cows.
You can use the park and ride to travel into York for the day for only a few pounds return and the buses run from Monks Cross every 9 mins til late. There is a lovely retail park in Monks Cross with a cinema, bowling and crazy golf along with fast food eateries.
A short drive of around 20 mins from Rosedale will have you in Pickering where you will find local take aways, restaurants, convenience stores and grocery stores.
Flamingo Land is a 30 minute drive from Rosedale Abbey but I would avoid the disappointment. The theme park was run down with a lot of rides broken down.

Beautiful village tucked away and surrounded by wonderful scenery. Shop / tea shop was fabulous, with really friendly staff and a lovely lunch selection - bread delivery doesn't arrive til 10 though, so no fresh loaf for breakfast !
Local pub was very good, with multiple local ales on tap and lovely meals ( lamb shank was excellent) - however, they stop serving at 8 and can get busy, so think about booking.

Rosedale Abbey is a very pretty village in a beautiful area. The area is great for walking, cakes and cafes and we found some good places to eat out. Hutton le Hole, just a few miles away over some spectacular moorland roads, has the Ryedale Folk Museum which was very good for a visit.

Scenery beautiful. Plenty of walks nearby. Little villages close by but would need a car. Close enough to the beaches of Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay( both dog friendly.
We ate outside at the Crown in Hutton le Hole. Food was lovely and service was good.
Bring basic food items eg bread milk etc as no large shops nearby.

A lovely quiet village beautiful village ideal for a restful holiday or ideal for keen walkers. Beautiful old church; two great shops/cafes Rosedale Abbey Tea Rooms and Graze on the Green and two handy pubs The Coach House is right in the village with good food and friendly staff and The White Horse on the bank. Only The Coach House open when we were there. We have been to White Horse on previous visits and enjoyed it. Two large Caravan and campsites near by but you wouldn't know. We were there outside school holidays so probably extra quiet. Fish and Chip van on a Friday Lots of places of interest within easy driving of the village

Liked the location, but not keen on the tractors up and down or the fact that we were never made welcome by "Ena" ......... just a name on piece of slate with our names and key in door, quite formal and unfriendly.
Loved the surrounding area and views
