Breakfast and choice was great. Location spot on central for a great shopping experience. Any one travelling by train is on the doorstep not that you hear any trains. All in all a great hotel and staff so friendly.
Would definitely stay again.

Good location for the main road and a short drive to local towns
The whole hotel was dirty. The room was barely functional 1 ch as it that was falling apart. The bed was small, old, very uncomfortable looked like it had come from Argos. No bedside table or shelf. The bathroom was not very clean pubic hairs in the bath. The toilet took 4-5 attempts to flush. Sealant around sink and bath had black mould. The general state of the hotel was thread bare and dated. A complete lack of staff. In fact the only member of staff we saw was when we checked in and then we had to phone a hnumber and wait for them come. To make things worst we had to for privilege to stay here.

The Hotel: It's a staging post, most probably for single travellers, handy if you plan to be out all day and all you need is a comfortable bed, a shower and a a cup of something in the morning. The cheerful adjoined Turkish restaurant/??bar has the same name but is fully dissociated. It opens as I recall at 11.00am so not suitable for breakfast --- altho' I didn't test that.
There's nothing around but open countryside (and the restaurant)
Shefford: I wasn't there to see Shefford, but driving through, it looks like a perfectly nice village/small town like very many in England..

A fantastic place for a few nights away in the lovely Bedfordshire countryside. We went to a wedding at Shuttleworth House, only 5 minutes away. Some beautiful villages within a short driving distance and some great Pubs.

Staying at the Black Horse was delightful with excellent fine dining and friendly ,professional staff. The accommodation was as described and although we prefer served ,cooked breakfast we were advised about the continental breakfast in our room so we expected that. The hot porridge on a cold day was a welcome addition.
We wish it could be nearer home and we could come there more often.A good halfway meeting place for siblings.Thanks.

A quiet market town with a town centre steeped in 17th 18th & 19th century buildings.
No amusement arcades or anything like that but plenty of pubs and restaurants. Cuisine includes Asian, Oriental and traditional English pub fayre, many of which deliver also. English chip shop and pizza delivery. Coffee and cake shops open during the day.
There are branches a couple of national supermarkets and a petrol station.
On the edge of town, near the rivers, there are nature walks too.
The property was outstanding value for money. It was exceptionally comfortable and private, the hosts are attentive without being intrusive and nothing was too much for them. In a way you’re treated as a family member.
I’ve stayed in many different types of accommodation throughout Europe and North America. Without doubt for me it falls in the top 10% of accommodation that I have stayed in. The warmth and welcome on arriving at the property added to wonderful visit to Shefford.
Thank you.
It was our first out out night and we were a little concerned but very pleased with the hygiene, distancing, following procedures and enforceing them when members of the public didn't follow them.
The restaurant staff wore masks cleaned areas after use correctly (leaving disinfectant for 5 minutes before wiping off) The whole experience was superb as usual. Food was outstanding and staff were so helpful and happy. The hotel room was beautiful and very comfortable.
Thank you
The hotel is clean and tidy, the room was very spacious, our bed was comfortable but very old, lighting is good, plenty of towels, cupboard space is ample for a short stay, a large free parking area.
The only member of staff we found was very helpful and friendly, if very tired
Lisa and Nick are super hosts. Location ideal for getting into Shefford which has an excellent Indian restaurant (Shefford Tandoori). Room very comfortable and exceptionally clean.
