Really enjoyed our stay, will definitely consider booking again. Excellent amount left for breakfast, possibly too much. Liked the fact it was self check in/out as we could arrive when we wanted, worked out well as our train was late arriving into Stonehaven

Oh, my, god, those beds. I don't know what they were made of, but I just wanted to stay there forever. This stay is a small family-owned business, the owners were very nice and friendly, they offered to help us warm up our dinner and prepared an amazing breakfast for us too. The house is freshly renovated and it was done very well and with taste. We actually spent a lot of time just looking around and enjoying how well the renovations and decorations were done. Very much appreciated!
It's our home town & we were there visiting family.

The harbour area is lovely to wander and pause for a coffee. The beach has an extended walk way, but it's mostly a pebble beach. There's an open air swimming pool for warmer months, and several places to eat including excellent fish and chips! The area around the market square has a lovely range of small independent shops to explore.

Stonehaven is a beautiful seaside town located just twenty minutes by train south of Aberdeen. I can highly recommend visiting the old town siuated around the harbour and old pier which by far are the most attractive parts. Also highly worth visiting is Dunnotter Castle which is just thirty minutes walk south of the town. On the way to the castle you pass a war memorial atop of a hill which is also worth a visit. I also visited Dunnotter Church. Unfortunately the chutch itself was locked, however the graveyard was very peaceful and picturesque. And as a bonus Stonehaven claims to be the birthplace of the battered Mars Bar, which you can sample if you so wish...

We visited Stonehaven to experience the Fire Ball event at Hogmanay. This is the second time we have been and it most definitely did not disappoint. It was fabulous.
It is quite a small town and over New Year a lot of restaurants and pubs were shut but this is to be expected.
We really liked the Ship Inn at the harbour and the Market Inn on the Market Square. There were a couple of nice gift shops and easy access to the beach.
There is a bus running between Stonehaven and Aberdeen which we would have taken had we more time. There is also a castle close by (you would need a car).
The locals are really friendly and make you very welcome.
Overall I would recommend Stonehaven and look forward to returning in the better weather to experience more of what is on offer.

The beach looked great but it wasn't too warm.
The beach looked great but it wasn't too warm. The castle is a bit of an uphill struggle, however there is a bus. Unfortunately if you suffer from vertigo it probably won't be for you.
We've been told that it is great for watching dolphins and seeing the Northern lights unfortunately we didn't see either but it is a great place to go. We'll certainly be back.

It’s a lovely friendly town , plenty of cafes and individuals shops . It has a good beachfront and you can walk to the castle . We enjoyed the walk but found the actual castle a bit underwhelming and it’s quite expensive for a family , it doesn’t have a cafe or gift shop and the toilets left a lot to be desired , when we go back we’ll just do the walk and take a picnic for down at the beach . The kids loved the park beside the leisure centre and Aunty Betty’s ice cream shop was a hit
We had the most awesome view with the beach and sea just outside our window. It was wonderful sitting in the chairs at the bay window and having some wine. Listening to the surf at night was lovely. The included breakfast was he best we had in our visit to Scotland. Close to walk to the harbor for dinner. Make a reservaiton and make sure you get there before 9pm. We had dinner at the hotel one night and it was good. Unfortunately they had sold out of the Sunday Roast, but we ordered beef and ale pie and it was great.
The hotel is conveniently located next to the train station in Stonehaven, and although some distance from the town centre it makes a great location to use as a base when exploring the local area. The room itself was exceptionally clean, and the bed very comfortable. I left early in the morning before breakfast had been served, so am unable to comment on this. After checking out the staff were happy for me to leave a bag with them which I then picked up again upon my return to the train station.
Hotel was happy to discuss arrival time, I was travelling a distance. Professional and efficient on arrival. Comfy room, wasn't ensuite but I was aware. Bar open and friendly, it had been a long day.
Good location for travelling north on the A90, onward to Aberdeen the next day.
Hadn't stayed in Stonehaven before so discovered the castle that someone at home had told me about, and learnt a bit about the town, which I enjoy. Petrol and sandwiches next morning at the M & S garage.
The on site facilities with horses and everything were excellent we were even able to watch a horse jumping competition it was great. The staff were excellent so friendly and would do anything for you. Only five minutes into the beautiful wee town of Stonehaven and Aberdeen only about twenty minutes up the road. Couldn’t fault this site in anyway as two grans with two grandchildren it was excellent.
Property is along the beach. But we booked a room at the back as it was cheaper and only one available.
Given the small size it was beautifully presented with wine and breakfast incl. Plus a fridge! (Not many hotels in Scotland have one!)
Host was friendly and helpful with good tips for restaurants to eat.
Walking distance to some good restaurants nearby along the beach to harbour.
This is a very comfortable guest house in beautiful Stonehaven. We loved the old house and it was very quiet and peaceful. There is no elevator and you will need to do some stairs. The breakfast is wonderful. The staff are friendly and helpful. You are on the main road close to the town square, so walking is easy to anywhere in town. There is great off street parking.
This gorgeous apartment was perfect for our 3 night stay in Stonehaven. Having 2 double bedrooms, a modern cosy lounge & kitchen facilities meant we had a lot more freedom & space than living out of a single hotel room… plus it was beautifully decorated & perfectly central in the market square
we came to Stonehaven to visit the open air baths and this hotel looked very close. We had a small child and found the hotel nicely child friendly. the bed and pillows were very comfortable. it was clean and modern and served delicious food. staff were very friendly.
Location was perfect, just what I needed for travelling for work. My Host's hospitality was wonderful, I felt welcomed and at home in this space. I was accommodated for my dietary restrictions. I also really loved the outdoor seating area as they are a tea room too!
Big apartment right in the heart of Stonehaven. 2 minute walk to the beach. There's a supermarket literally next door and there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. The apartment has a kitchen and everything else you might need.
Great location for getting around town and out to Dunotter Castle. Breakfast was tasty and dinner was very good. The staff was very helpful and thoughtful. This is our second visit to the Ship Inn and I hope it won't be our last.
The owner was a really lovely lady who made us feel very welcome the moment we met her. We really enjoyed our stay. The room was very spacious, cosy, clean & we had a wonderful view of Stonehaven Harbour
A very clean hotel and across the street from train station. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms are newly redone and very pretty. Restaurant was good and spacious.
The loft was lovely and cosy and ideal for our few days away. close to Stonehaven and Aberdeen so was good location. Louise was helpful anytime we needed to call regarding anything.
A very good location right on the harbour and not far from Donnottar Castle. The owner was very friendly and most helpful on locating places to visit in the area.
