The hotel was decorated in a quriky but classical way and very nicely done without going over the top. Breakfast was excellent and overall was good value, its an excellent venue if you are visiting Blenheim Palace as it was 2 mins away.

Great location.
The interior was beautiful.
Didn’t matter to us but was great that they catered for different milk needs.
Breakfast was incredible. A great variety on the menu.
We stayed in room 4 which had air con, super comfy bed and a beautiful bathroom! Plenty of hot water and quick to fill bath tub. Toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, bath/shower gel, conditioner and shampoo all provided.
Help was given for us to get our stuff upstairs.

The room was large with a sofa. Bed was large and very comfortable and warm. The bathroom had a shower in the bath with plenty of hot water.Shampoo and shower gel was provided,a nice touch.
The staff were extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble . Breakfast was great and dinner was delicious.

Location was great in the middle of Woodstock main high street and in very close proximity to Blenheim Palace. The rooms were clean (but problem with room on check in, see below)

A pleasant market town with pretty buildings, a range of shops including antiques. art and interior designs, as well as a butchers, a co-op and several pubs, restaurants and cafes. There were also 2 small museums.
Blenheim Palace was only a 10 minute walk from Woodstock. We spent 2 days visiting the Palace and its grounds, and felt we could have spent longer.
There was a frequent bus service into Oxford. Buses ran every half hour from about 5.30am to 11.30pm, cost £2, and the journey took about 40 minutes. We spent 2 days visiting Oxford and felt we could have spent longer.
The only downside about Woodstock was car parking, which was restricted to pay and display between 8.00am and 6.00pm every day.
There was a free car park near the fire station which allowed upto 12 hours stay in any 24 hour period.
For longer stays, 24 hour car parking permits could be purchased from the Council for £10 per day.

Beautiful small town.
Beautiful small town. Plentiful accommodation and restaurants, most of which were dog friendly. Ideal for visiting beautiful Blenheim Palace and nearby Oxford. We ate at Punchbowl pub , good friendly service, very dog friendly, food and drink good. Would not stay at Macdonald Bear next time but probably at one of the many pubs that had rooms.

Our trip was fundamentally to view the lights and the house at Blenheim Palace; the theme was Sleeping Beauty.
We arrived at about 3pm. Just right as dusk was setting in. We toured the house which was utterly incredible - How a person or company could put together such a phenomental piece of design, unchanging in its beauty, throughout the rooms that had been decorated to continue the theme - I do not know. To continue outside and see the light display was nothing short of sensational - it lit up the whole of the 1.5 miles of the walking tour and the evening sky. An unforgettable experience. The next day we shopped through the village enjoying its ancient buildings and some of the shops filled with objects d`art , clothes, furniture and lighting. An experience that cannot be better but can be changed...........in summer.

Woodstock is a pretty medieval town with many eateries,...
Woodstock is a pretty medieval town with many eateries, interesting shops, a free museum, lots of walks and, of course, Blenheim Palace nestled next to it in all its splendour.
Apart from the main Street, there are many attractive side streets to explore.
The buildings are attractive, being made from the local stone which was also used to build Blenheim Palace. They appear to ‘glow’ in the sun.
The greeting by David and his staff throughout, including Laura was excellent. Check in went well, we had a super evening meal and also rally good breakfast the following day. Our room was much bigger than a normal hotel room, almost a separate lounge area, with an L shaped sofa. The nice touches were the real tea leaves and cafetiere and the water and cold milk on ice for all guests left outside the room in the morning. The wet room shower was excellent with super tropical shower large head. Well done the Crown we will be back!
The hotel is decorated and furnished with style and is extremely comfortable. The breakfast room is bright and the service is prompt and there is a good breakfast menu. The Marlborough Arms is in the heart of the delightful Woodstock with its many restaurants and pubs. The glorious Blenheim Palace is a short walk away. There are frequent buses to Oxford from outside the hotel.
The Buttery is a charming place that fits in nicely with the charming village of Woodstock. The room was one flight up from a small courtyard, and breakfast is a real treat. Of added attraction is The Buttery's proximity to Blenheim Palace, down the street and to the left, and the nearby Italian restaurant, Brothertons Brasserie.
I have stayed there for my short gateway from London and to visit Blenheim Palace. Woodstock is a magical place . The hotel was very good, the staff welcoming supportive and warm. Room just as I like it - magnificent. Enjoyed 100% my stay my room and my visit. Would recommend and will come back for sure . Thank you once again
Lovely historical building sympathetically decorated. Loved the courtyard and our bedroom there with parking outside. Breakfast was fantastic and it was great to have table service. Woodstock was a lovely Cotswold town with plenty of little shops, cafes, bars and hotels. Blenheim Palace just a few minutes away.
Location, location, location! Lovely to have been able to stay so centrally. House was comfortable and just right for a short stay in Woodstock with Blenheim park virtually on the doorstep (if you know where the town gate is!) and plenty of shops to poke around and superb restaurants and pubs.
The interior of the property is very modern and spacious. It is extremely clean and really nicely fitted out with everything you need for a few days away. Plenty of towels and nice bedding. It is within easy walking distance of Woodstock with a great choice of bars and restaurants nearby.
The location and the room was very comfortable, but not worth the price taking into account, the greeting from the host no parking and quality of breakfast.Stayed at the Marlborough Arms previously and will definitely choose that or the hotel The Bear on our next visit..
The bedroom was excellent. albeit with a rolling floor, due to the age of the property.
Check-out was 10.00a.m., but our hotel parking permit ran out at 12.00 noon, giving us time to explore Woodstock before moving on.
Lovely staff, great hotel and comfortable and cosy. The room was very clean and the location ground floor made it perfect for the dog, he had a lovely welcome basket too. Fantastic location in Woodstock.
