Easy to find and no trouble checking in. Nice lady at reception showed us 2 rooms, one at the front of the hotel and one at the back. We opted for the rear room away from the main road. Double glazing kept any other noise out well and the aircon was quiet so a good night sleep was had.
Room a good size, clean, comfortable bed and decent shower room..hooray!
Included breakfast was a bit indifferent but some nice pastries and coffee.

If you want a lively tourist resort then this will be too quiet but for us it was nice to be with locals, fewer tourists and sample real Greece. This also means it was better value when eating out . The beach was nice, well equipped with beds and umbrellas, again at low cost. Lots of cafes and restaurants along the sea front. Beach never too crowded.
The only down side is possibly that there is more things to visit in north Crete so it was a longer drive to go sight seeing .You will need a car to get about .

It is a nice village with many accommodation options also in the surrounding olive groves. We hade a phantastic view over the valley and the mountains to the south. it is a great area to stay in, for all kinds of interests, but probably not nightlife.. Not far to anywhere, lovely scenery. People very friendly like everewhere in Crete and good food in tavernas.

Kamilari is hilly village with a lovely charm including restaurants, bars, shops and art galleries. There are quite some villas and bed&breakfast style housing so I wouldn't consider it a typical cretan village, without the tourist the village would be quite different. The advantage is the proximity to Matala and Como bechaes where you'll find the nicest sunsets of southern Crete as it's the only ones that are west (Kalamaki beach & red beach as well). Also you have access to Timbaki and Mires where you'll find shopping opportunities as well as weekly markets from which I prefer the one in Timbaki. Kamilari has a nice view on the impressive Ida mountain range as well as the Asterousia mountains.

During our holiday in Crete we stayed in 5 different places, but I enjoyed Kamilari the best. I would not recommed for those who are interested in a vibrant night life, but who are looking for a charming town with kind people and with excellent tavernas this town is a perfect choice. With car you can reach the beaches within 10-15 minutes (e.g. Matala) and Heraklion is within an hour.

Charming traditional village with spledid views on...
Charming traditional village with spledid views on surrounding olive groves and mountains. Good tavernas, mini-supermarket with all you need for everyday food shopping. Only a few minutes away by car from some of the best cretan beaches.
Great location, close to Matala, the Phaistos palace, and beautiful beaches along the south coast. Can see that the ladies running this place outside their hearts into it - it’s clean and homely. Kamilari village itself is charming and you have all you want in walking distances - the village shop even delivers essentials if you ask through the host. Bathroom facilities not like a 5 star hotel but that’s not what we are paying for.
Tip: park your car at the bottom of the slope or on the village square just round the corner.
The studio apartment was really lovely with everything you need for a comfortable stay. So nice to come back to after a hot day out and about. Enjoyed lying on sun lounges under the shade of the tree with a light breeze looking out to the view of the olive grove valley and stunning mountains. Eleni was so welcoming and the perfect host. Kamilari village is alive at night with terrific restaurants and a blues bar for drinks and live music till late. Would highly recommend the studio apartment.
Closeness to the lovely villade Kamilari with excellent food and genuine Cretan atmosphere. House is very well built in stone and is very comfortable. Lemon, orange, Palm and Oliver trees in small but very nice garden. Owner is from the village Kamilari and everything is as genuine as it can get. A place to return to.
A lovely apartment, a short walk from the centre of the village of Kamilari with magnificent views. The lady owner has a wonderfully luxuriant style. There a little points of interest all over the three rooms. And lots of welcoming gifts for guests.
Nice place for family holidays, in the heart of kamilari! the hostess Olga very helpful! The rooms are very clean, big enough and the beds very comfortable! The best place is the inner courtyard! We will visit again!
It's an very nice, new house with pool an a great view. You are directly in Kamilari where you find bars and tavernas everywhere. The wifi is working good and you have a private parking place with a door to close.
Beautiful new villa in the vilalge of Kamilari in Southern Crete. Few restaurants within walking distance. Very comfortable. Nice sea views. Great if you like to spend holidays outside of busy tourist areas.
Kamilari Luxury Residences far exceeded our expectations! The house was amazing and the hosts were wonderful, as well as all the people in the small town of Kamilari.
