We loved the breathtaking view on the Lassithi Plateau from the balcony of our bedroom or the restaurant on top. The lodging is brand new (only 2 years of use) and much bigger than what it appears on the pictures. Everything is perfectly clean and well thought of. Plus, it is equipped with a washing machine and a dryer; it is pratical to stay there to wash laundry before continuing with your journey. Emmanuella, the owner of the place and restaurant, is a perfect cook and host; we ate very well! Do not skip out on her meals, they are worth it. She is very warm and welcoming person. We loved the entire family working with Emmanuella. They speak excellent English; making it very easy to communicate. We regret not having spent more time there. If you like to hike in the mountains; this is a perfect place to stay for 3 to 4 days. It can be nice to cool off a little bit in the mountains from the coast temperatures and be away from the crowd. That place will fit these needs. Also, it is only an hour away from Spinaloga and other beaches; it is easy to spend part of the day on the coast and be back for the evening.

Apartments Gonies - Artemis, hotel in Kastamonítsa

Boasting air-conditioned accommodation with a balcony, Apartments Gonies - Artemis is situated in Goníai. There is an in-house restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available.

This is the most high tech, luxurious taverna accommodation ever! Everything is very comfortable and functional. Bathroom is really nice for Greece, and the bed is perfect, not hard. The hosts Kostas and Maria and their family are so warm and kind, very generous. They gave me little cakes every day and I got fresh broadbeans and raki, which is a nice Spring Cretan tradition. Oh and the first artichokes of the season, my favourite. I felt like part of the family. I’ll be going back and they are welcome to come to me in London any time!

Mylopetra Traditional House, hotel in Kastamonítsa

Featuring air-conditioned accommodation with a patio, Mylopetra Traditional House is located in Armákha.

We loved the location in the mountains and strolling around the village. The house is truly a labour of love, full of interesting 'things' and it was an experience to stay there. Great garden and lovely to sit outside under shelter in the rain, and I imagine it would be refreshingly cool when the weather is hot!

tiny house EFROSSINI, hotel in Kastamonítsa

Featuring garden views, tiny house EFROSSINI provides accommodation with a terrace, around 39 km from Lake Voulismeni.

Quite a charming old cottage with a lot of thought given to details. The place is tastefully furnished and generally well equipped. There are two radiators for warmth. We appreciated the personal touch. The owner left us four farm eggs from the village and a bowl of freshly picked walnuts.

Loved this little village...lovely of a warm night to sit outside the cnr bar with the locals...got lucky as they also had a couple of saints festival's when we was there with singing and dancing....other villages near by ..all very Greek..its not the place for you if your an all inclusive person and dont like exploring much...I'm an old backpacker at heart from the 80s so this really suits me.
