we had the option to choose between firm and soft mattress and we chose the firm one and it was great for our back. The fridge and the mirror in the room was helpful. The owner was helpful and kind and he even arranged our transfer to the hotel next door at his expense due to the renovation works in his hotel. We hope Alkion hotel will be beautiful after the renovation.

This is a real gem. The room was spacious and well equipped with a sizeable balcony. The whole complex was clean and well maintained. The principle pool is enormous and there is a separate paddling style pool too. The mini-market or on site shop had a very good range of essential and non-essential items which were very fairly priced. Free and plentiful car parking. Great choice of food which was excellent, I particuarly loved the breakfast. The pool bar area is a great place to hang out. The staff are both friendly and attentive without being intrusive. I would certainly be very happy to spend another holiday here.

The staff was super friendly and helpful! Without asking they provided home made cookies and one morning brought a small local breakfast to the room. Also extending the stay with few hours (changing check-out from 12 o'clok to 17 o'clock) was easy!

We like this area due to the beach, the local tavernas and the hotels. Kimatogi is our favourite taverna with delicious specials every day and our favourite hotel is Renieries on the top of the hill, with beautiful view and with the family athmosphere.
You can easily go to Chania with the bus which stops many places in Stalos. From this area the tourist buses also can pick you up easily if you want to visit Elafonissi, Balos/Gramvousa,Samaria Gorge but also to the other area of the Island.
Or with going by car it's also easy to get around and it's near to a junction to the Speed way.

Too quiet not enough to do and see.
Too quiet not enough to do and see. Restaurants not typically Greek mainly serving pizza and pasta. Couldn't get coffee before 9.am. There was no bakery. A lot of properties very run down. Very few general retail shops. It was better to catch the bus into Chania

We booked this hotel to be close to Chania but were very pleasantly surprised about what Stalos had to offer. We spent more time there than expected as it had a good selection of restaurants for both lunch and dinner. Lovely beach and a short(but busy) bus ride to Chania. An ideal base.

Stalos is mainly low rise and less heavily developed than further west. The live music at Dionysus taverna was excellent. The breakfast at Evilion bistro is also excellent and very good value.
There is good walking up into the hills through the olive groves. Lake Agia via Pano Stalos and Kirtomades (turn left at the bottom) takes about 1.5 hours though the cafe is closed on a Monday.

We only stayed for one night as we arrived late in Chania and needed a hotel close to the airport. The apartment was really nice and clean and satisfied our needs. Our plane was delayed and the owner was waiting for as to check in late. We could park a car in nearby car park. There was a lovely swimming pool and a garden. Beach only half a minute walk.
We stayed here for six nights and were very happy with our choice. Everyone was very nice and helped us with booking day tours and tips what to see and where to eat. The pool was big enough to swim laps in, the room was large and clean, and the interior design was fresh. The bathroom was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed that the hotel was in a calm area, but it was still easy to access Chania city by bus. The beach, various shops and restaurants are at walking distance.
- the hosts are super helpful and respond fast to any questions
- the studio is equipped with all you need
- the bed is big and comfortable
- the AC is quiet and does not blow directly above the bed
- the small garden in front of the studio is well-maintained and there are sun beds which you can use
- the studio is right on the beach and the beach itself is sandy, spacious and with panoramic views
- there are nice restaurants and beach bars within 5-minute walk
If I could give 11 as a rating I would. Everything here was just amazing, from the room design to the cleanliness, the amazing view and location ( you were right on the beach) to the breakfast and wonderful Katerina and Andreas as hosts.
fist trip with our 7 month old son, they went above and beyond to meet our needs and requests. make sure you check out their gift shop, the ceramics are just wonderful. This place will always stay in our hearts. Thank you
We have very fond memories of our stay in Crete at Sofoklis Apts. The apartment was clean and equipped with everything we needed, from kitchen appliances to products such as coffee, tea, olive oil, sugar, jam, butter, orange basket, including a delicious welcome treat and a bottle of wine.
The hosts are very nice, helpful and welcoming.
I definitely recommend everyone to visit Sofoklis Apartments!
loved, loved, loved the breakfast - it was definitely worth the money. The food of the restaurant was quite tasty and convenient when we didn't feel like going somewhere else. We enjoyed the location with the beach at our feet and when we didn't feel like getting sandy, there was always the pool to cool off in. We also loved the cleaning woman and her creative designs with the towels.
The location across from the beach and set back just enough to have peace and quiet. Pet friendly, the mattresses had a pillow top and was very comfortable. One of the bathrooms had a bath tub (but no drain plug) not a big deal as I rigged up a plug. Extremely clean and roomy. Each bedroom had air con, but the main living area had a ceiling fan. We will definitely return.
I loved that it was right on the beach and felt secluded even though restaurants, shops, paddle board rental and cafes are within walking distance. The house has all the basic amenities to cook and feel at home. The view, outside courtyard and eating area and price point are great for budget travelers who still want a private beach experience.
Everything was fantastic. The room was beautiful and the owners were very friendly and happy to help. We arrived very late and they were very accommodating.
Great location across the road from the beach and a short drive away from Chania. Definitely recommend this hotel and wouldn’t hesitate to book again next time we’re in Crete :)
Manolis the host was very helpful and welcoming. He was very kind with us and gave us a lot of information about Crete. He booked the excursions for us as well. The hotel is very clean and the ambient is quite. Perfect for travel couples. We had fun and will surely visit again. Thank you so much Manolis, you're the best :D
The hotel is located on top of a small hill in Stalos providing a unique view over the Mediterranean sea and Crete. The breakfast is magnificent, a lot of variety from fruits, yogurt, bread, pancakes and else, and one can enjoy a wonderful sea view from the breakfast room! Everyone is very kind and the hotel is lovely!
The apartment is just 10 meters from the sea and the beach. We enjoyed the view from the balcony every evening. The location and view are really amazing! We were very happy with the cleanliness of the apartment. Amazing property, definitely recommend and will come again next time in Crete! Thanks for everything!
We had a very pleasant stay. The hotel is clean, with a few restaurants and markets in the area, takes 20min by bus to the closest big city - Chania. The receptionist was also very cool and helpful and recommended us nice tours on the first day.
Was my second time in Anniko, and I would do 3rd time in the next visit to Crete. Owners are very kind and always ready to help, presenting you with delicious home made sweets. Less than 5 minutes walk from the beach and all the amenities.
Excellent price/quality/location combination. Special thanks to Dimitris, very warm and friendly host. Gave us some valuable advises. Simple chats with Dimitris about Crete made our vacation a bit special with a touch of local spirit.
Welcoming. Cozy is a fantastic beach hotel. perfect before going to Santorini for my daughters wedding the owner and staff found me a a boat trip to get to Santorini because I missed the ferry.
- large breakfast
- private beach access
- super friendly staff
- family taverna across the street
-> we recommend to book a rental in advance to enjoy Crete and all its lovely beaches
We liked it! The host is really friendly and gave us a map with very useful information all over Crete island.
The room is spacious and very good for 2. We recommend it.
Every inch of the hotel is clean and in good condition. The beach is lovely. The staff are super friendly and the bar is perfectly located. We had an amazing time :)
