We loved how central the hotel was to attractions, shop's, shopping centres, and cafes, and restaurants.
We really enjoyed the food in the brasserie restaurant, and we really loved our room, and the beds, and how gorgeous the view was from our room.

The staff were very friendly and we have a 5 year old and they gave him a lot of time and attention asking him loads of questions and really made him part of the stay. We had asked for room close by and they actually arranged us to have adjoining rooms which was a great bonus. The breakfast the next morning was fabulous. It was such a pleasant surprise that we both said we are going to try and stay there again next year.

We loved the Church of St.
We loved the Church of St. Peter and Paul - they feature vivid and colourful stained glass windows made by Harry Clarke. We were in there for way longer than we anticipated, the art was so detailed and interesting. We found handy parking round the back of the castle, but it was February and was quiet so no problems there.

It was a very friendly town, with many pubs, cafe's and restaurants.
Sean's Bar had a very good live music duo. We ate at The Fatted Cow, which served excellant food in a professional and friendly atmosphere. The town itself was easy to get around with good transport links to other towns and cities. It was a good place to be based at.

Front desk customer service was absolutely brilliant.
Front desk customer service was absolutely brilliant. THANKS to Eric the man is a legend. Good staff everywhere. Room was little hot but that was the weather we were having. ROOM was excellent Breakfast and a swim in the pool to it off .Thank-you one and all
The location and privacy of the room was more than adequate for the time that I had spent in the room. The location was similar to where I had stayed in the last time that I had been in Athlone, and is very central to the town. While my standards for walkability are wildly different than most people's (I wouldn't decline a walking trip to Roscommon, for example), I felt like the town as a whole had a very accessible vibe and the location of this hotel was very conducive to that ideal.
Great location. helpful and professional staff. This was a 2nd choice as we had originally booked the Prince if Wales. They canceled us advising that “they were closing because of rising heat costs”. We found out after arriving in Athlone that they were open but had decided to take a government funding deal to house refugees. I would have preferred the truth from them. Regardless, they did us a favor since the Sheraton was a much nicer hotel!
Neil and Avril are absolutely lovely, and their restoration of the house was done with noticeable care and meticulous attention. Our room was beautiful and comfy, and breakfast was quite delicious. I found myself wishing we had more time here because of the excellent hosts! Neil gave many recommendations and fun history lessons of the extended area. The house was a short walk (maybe 1 km?) into the touristy part of Athlone. Would stay again!
At ten minutes walking distance from Athlone town centre and the train station, we got a full-sized 2-bedroom 1.5 bathroom appartment with all ameneties and well-equipped kitchen, all much bigger than we've had before when booking a self-catering appartment. We only stayed one night, so it was a pity we couldn't really enjoy it completely; this would be an ideal starting place if you want to explore this part of Ireland for several days.
This is best hotel in Athlone. I always stay there. Just back from a vacation. Each and every member of staff went beyond their call of duty. I highly recommend this Hotel due to its location, cleanliness, friendly staff , breakfast etc. The list is endless. You will not be disappointed. I will be back.
Hotel facilities are superb and location is stunning overlooking the river shannon and centrally located in Athlone. All of this is complimented brilliantly by the warmth, friendliness and professionalism of the staff throughout the hotel who were excellent. We will definitely return.
So clean and quiet. Stayed for a wedding in Athlone. Taxi was about 14euro each way and we had no problems getting one in and out.
Comfy rooms with bice spacious ensuites. Grounds are fantastic. Exceptional value for money compared to the hotels in the town 10/10
