Although Rie was busy, she took the time to ask about my plans, suggested places to visit, showed me around Mamihara and picked me up from one of the sightseeing sites as it was a hot day when I visited. Every aspect of this accommodation was impressive. The facade is very modern ad was reflected in the dining area, lobby, accommodation floors and the rooms themselves. Nature abounds in the surrounds of this picturesque town. Within walking distance to Takachiho Jinja and the Kagura performance. Best to drive to the gorge from here.

The photos on booking.com don't do this place justice. The house is super clean and the bathroom looks brand new. Very warm and homely feeling. The staff was so polite and helpful. She even gave us a house tour and was smiling all the time. She even called a nearby restaurant to help us make a booking for dinner. Very good value for money.

I appreciated the staff offering me help. They kept my luggage before and after my time, so I could explore the town well. I arrived by bus + foot, and they gave me a ride to the bus station on my return. They dressed me in Yukata(summer kimono) and were ready to chauffeur me to an outdoor evening show, but I declined and enjoyed my bath in my backyard.
Whereas usual Ryokan serves food in your room, this place has two food serving areas, and they walked me to different rooms for dinner and breakfast. I liked the nice garden views from two different locations.

We had an enjoyable stay in this Blue Sky and White Dragon . Though the 6 of us had to put up in 2 rooms the host Sakai San and hie wife made us most welcome.
We booked in for dinner and breakfast. We enjoyed both the meals very much .The dishes were quite original and traditional. We are truely surprised that that the hostess can prepared those dishes.
The highlight was the drum performance by Mr and Mrs Sakai' children .
We wished we could have stayed another day to venture the surrounding area.

The bbq area was terrible and almost unusable. No resources. Wouldn’t even step into kitchen it was dirty and unhelpful utensils. Bathroom was also dirty - dust, mould, used bandaids in shower, cockroaches. Gas burner provided but no fry pans or grills. Microwave was dirty. Things everywhere making any communal facilities uncomfortable and improper for use.
