This is an exceptional hotel in Kyoto, you get to experience the best Japanese hospitality. Such beautiful view of the cherry blossom trees along the river from the hotel room. Everything is well provided for in the room and local Japanese sweets are left on the coffee table for us to try everyday, it was so thoughtful. We absolutely loved our stay there. Highly recommend.

Wonderful greeting with local Mochi and a refreshing glass of champagne and green tea. We were able to check-in early at around 11:30. Thank you to the manager for her flexibility. This boutique is located by the River. Our suite had a clear view over local shrines and the river delta. Imperial Palace is 5min walking distance. Shimogamo Shrine, a 10 minute walk. Concierge booked a three day tour guide for us who took great care of us. We booked last minute and could not get good restaurant or guide reservations. Rio took care of everything. Lovely property, manager showed us other suites too, spacious and home feeling.

Very clean hotel in a puristic design. The location of the hotel is between a forest and a river. Breakfast with a panorama view of the hotel own garden with the hotel own small river was great. Staff is very engaged. We were in 35mins at Kyoto station with public transport. We liked it very much to calm down in a quiet and beautiful place like moksa after a day full of sightseeing.

Whether it was answering my inquiries before arrival or assisting with any requests during my stay, they were always prompt and courteous. Their attention to detail made me feel valued as a guest. 2. Ideal Location The hotel’s location is a gem. Situated near the serene Kamogawa River, it offers a peaceful retreat from the bustling city. Yet, it’s within easy reach of major attractions like Gion and Kiyomizu Temple. Exploring Kyoto was a breeze thanks to this strategic spot. 3. Tranquil Ambiance Upon entering the hotel, I was greeted by a sense of calm. The minimalist design, soothing color palette, and soft lighting created an oasis of tranquility. It was the perfect escape after a day of sightseeing. 4. Impeccable Rooms My room was spacious, elegantly furnished, and impeccably clean. The comfortable bed ensured a restful night’s sleep, and the view of the nearby cherry blossoms added to the charm. The attention to cleanliness was evident throughout the property. I used the kitchen a lot, which was a great help for me (being vegetarian in Japan implies a lot of self-cooking and less restaurants options). The host was very friendly and welcoming, he is that kind of guy connected to the place he lives in, knowing typical japanese people and places that are still true to their tradition/craft/specialty and not too influenced by the west and that is great, as I wanted to get in touch with that aspect while in Japan. The best: he got me in touch with a Hari expert called Hirata who gave me Hari treatment (Japanese meridian massage and acupuncture) which restored my vitality fast and got me over the jetlag effects after the first session, while the second session got me more stable in this direction. Now I know what kind of masseur to look for during the rest of my stay in Japan ;) The host also gave me a ride to the station at the end of my stay, and he was generally a very pleasant presence. Definitelly recommending him and his place and will be back here next time I'm in Kyoto!
