Incredible experience from start to finish. I only stayed one night, but I felt immediately at home and could not have been happier. The private, in-room onsen was the highlight of the room without question. Such a wonderful way to unwind and I spent hours in there. They keep the onsen very hot, hotter than most I've been to, but it's easy to add cold water to cool it down and if you go too far, a call to the front desk will have hot water piping back in. I enjoyed soaking while watching the snow fall through the open window - and was very comfortable!
The room was extremely spacious with sliding partitions for each area, so if traveling with a partner or family, it would be easy to create privacy when needed. In-room amenities were great. Nice lotions, soaps, etc. Lighting in the room was very nice - I believe about 6 different settings you can choose from to create the mood you're looking for.
The meals were absolutely top notch and unforgettable, both the dinner and breakfast. I can't say enough good things but the food surpassed all my expectations. Simply lovely.
Checking in and out was very smooth and simple. It was easy to catch a taxi from directly outside Tobu Nikko station and when it was time to leave, the staff called a taxi for me.

This is my second time to Nikko but this time doing an overnight stay in Nikko and then then one night in Kinugawaonsen. And we did the Sengyogahara hike with Yunoko falls, Kegon falls and Chuzenji Lake besides exploring the Toshogu shrine. The Nikko pass is a value for money pass enabling us to explore the different places within Nikko and Kinugawaonsen. The timing was just right with the full blooms of sakura especially in the Toshogu shrine areas.

Most restaurants around Nikko Stations close early.
Most restaurants around Nikko Stations close early. Only a few are open after 7 pm. Beyond Central Nikko or in outer Nikko/ Oku-Nikko there are are more interesting scenic hiking trails and sightseeing spots. Need to plan as bus frequencies are affected by weather and waiting time can be long.

We visited quite a few places during our two week stay in Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto and then we took a two day bike ride from Imabari to Onomichi). Nikko was the most beautiful of the beautiful places we visited. Took a bus ride up the hill and hiked in the forest which boasts two types of bear, deer and monkeys. The temple was beautiful and we enjoyed trying local food. We each had a "Yuba set" at a local restaurant.

The rooms were freezing cold no heating and it was -5 inside the hotel. They provided us with one thin blanket nothing like advertised, the windows were open and unable to close. We are having to seek medical help as one of my friends has developed hypothermia. No food no drink and the toilet facility does not flush.
Said in advert the beds would be made up for us. After a vicious scolding by the owners wife we had to awkwardly make up our own beds with no instructions at all.
If you like being shouted at, sleeping on a solid cold floor with a stone for a pillow this is definitely the place for you.
Didn't really wanna even give the one star but no choice for 0*.

Nikko is a lovely small place.
Nikko is a lovely small place. The local Chinese on the high street has amazing food, it has a very small door and would be easy to miss, but make the effort to find it.
The temples are amazing, but I loved the mountains, if you like trekking then you will love Nikko.

Fabulous place to visit with the right balance between nature walks and temple and shrine visits. Our favorite visits were Toshogu and Rinno-ji Temples, a day trip to Chuzenji Lake and Kegon Falls with a walk towards the Italian and English Embassy residences was beautiful. If you still have time, the Imperial Tomozawa Villa is worth spending a couple of hours at. We did everything by bus and it was very well organised. Train station has convenient coin lockers for luggage and a Yamato counter to deliver your luggage at your hotel so you can start visiting without being troubled.
We had a brief but wonderful stay. Comfortable and spacious, great location close to town/trains/buses/food. The host were the best part. So kind and thoughtful. They provided us with so many useful tips for navigating the bus system, finding trails to hike, and making the most of our time in Nikko. Nikko is a great destination for those seeking a mix of Japanese history/culture and beautiful nature. If we return, and I hope we do, we would certainly stay at this location again. Thank you!
The host was amazing. He was taking care that we were arriving to the place correctly, communicating with us all the time. He received us and we had a great conversation with him, felt like speaking with a friend. He was caring and gave us very good tips of what to do in Nikko!
The place was also very good. Felt like a traditional Japanese experience, making your own futon bed and sleeping in it. Completely recommendable to have a different experience in Japan, this is a must!
The property had a large and beautiful premium suite with a private bath. The room is plentiful for one person. The hotel had great dinner and breakfast that was included at the stay. You can walk around the hotel to view the Japanese garden, Japanese arts, and aquariums around the building. Finally, the service was excellent. They had an English speaker who helped with all my needs. Great hotel that is close to Nikko station.
The hotel in our opinion is the gateway to Nikko. While the hotel premises have aged, the hotel remains clean, functional and comfortable topped with great service. The proximity to a coin laundry, supermarket and several highly rated restaurants makes the hotel something to return to for our future visits to Nikko.
We checked in on White Day and received a box of chocolates. A nice touch that puts a smile on our faces.
Onsens were beautiful. location is amazing. they provide a once daily free shuttle to and from the hotel and Nikko station. traditional Japanese meals were provided - I was vegan and they accommodated for that. Room was large and atmosphere was serene. Saw monkeys whilst I was in the onsen, had the onsen all to myself one morning. beautiful. staff don’t speak much English but provide friendly service all the same.
This is a lovely, brand new, well designed hotel, in a modern meets Japanese style with nicely designed and comfortable rooms. None too specious if you have large suitcases but fine, you didnt come to Nikko to sit in a room all day ;). Plenty of free parking space if you have a rental car. By car, the Toshogu shrine is 10 minutes away, maybe 15 if you get stuck behind some touring cars.
Resort is away from the city in an onsen area that is excellent for relaxation. Walking around the hotel and lake areas was excellent. Service, especially the restaurant service, was flawless. Traditional Japanese meals in the hotel were fantastic. Shuttle bus provides the convenience getting in and out of the hotel from the Tobu-Nikko station (check pick up time).
The room was pretty big and comfortable. In the lobby there are free tea and coffee, perfect for a quick breakfast !
The best point about this hotel is probably its private onsen. Every customer can enjoy the onsen for 30min.
The hotel is located on the outskirts of Nikko, very quiet place near the river but close enough to be easily reachable by a small walk.
Booked a single room with double for one night. Room was tatami design, compact but has everything I need. Surprised to have my own bathroom too as I thought it has to be shared toilet. Hotel also provided sauna bathroom at level 1, great to relax after whole day walking in Nikko.
Family mart is just opposite to the hotel, easy to grab snacks, dinner at night.
Fantastic location: walking distance from the historical sights of Nikko, the Emperor's villa and close to nature for very nice walks. Staff is very nice and extremely helpful (even in French!). The hotel is a very old hotel packed with charm of another century. A truly great experience.
Very close to tobu nikko station. Staff at the concierge was very professional and explained everything we needed to know. Also, there was a coin locker right in front of the hotel (which belongs to the hotel) so it helped when we needed a place to put our staff after checking out.
Nice location. Very near to the World Heritage site (Kanman Park) so anyone can easily cover the spot.
The hotel has a good dining area and has good amenities. Nice staff, nice and clean rooms. Onsen facility is available so it is a good deal if you have the time to enjoy.
Perfect reason to spend the night in Nikko. Hotel is just a few minutes walk from the temples. And the town is small enough to visit on foot. Onsen is wonderful, even get your own kimono to wear. After a day of sightseeing, onsen is exactly what you need.
old school type hotel. enjoyed the baths. they have private and men's only baths. fresh robes everyday. staff is very helpful and were always asking if I needed anything and if everything was ok. hotel is not to far from the downtown strip
The location is very conviently located in center of all the tourist attractions and downtown Nikko. Super friendly staff and very convenient to walk around without having to look for paid parking since parking is free at the hotel.
The room was very spacious for a Japanese hotel, with a full length bathtub in the room. The public bathing facilities were wonderful, well-kept, and spacious. The breakfast buffet had a lot of good options and was fantastic.
The staff were incredibly helpful and thoughtful, the room was perfect, spacious, and the whole hotel was very clean. The location is fantastic if you plan to visit the famous Nikko temples and shrines!
There is free parking right in front of the hotel, and there is free japanese breakfast too.
It is quite centralised, within walking distance from the train station, main street as well as supermarket.
