Set in the Nærøy Valley, this camping is surrounded by high mountains with a view of the Kjelfossen Waterfall. It offers an on-site kiosk and cottages with a patio and kitchen facilities.

I am very happy with the free upgrade to its sister hotel Viking room.

Parking right in front of the hotel. The room was amazing and we even got upgraded to a room with balcony which was lovely. The staff was very nice and polite. Despite the dinner menu not having many options the venison burger was phenomenal, and the included breakfast had plenty of options too. The bed were comfy and shower amazing, both shampoo/shower gel and conditioner were available.
Vangsgaarden Gjestgiveri is located in the oldest buildings in the village of Aurland. Situated on the shores of Aurlandsfjord, it offers wonderful views of the surrounding mountains.

A spectatular setting where you can just relax and soak up the magnificent scenery. Fire pits to keep you warm while you sit outside (with a drink). The staff were extremely friendly. Right next to jetty where you can pick up the fabulous, all electric, boat to Flam (which is also just a 15 minute car journey away). The Viking Village is a 3 minute walk away and well worth visiting - something we nearly dismissed but really pleased we didn't! Menu a little limited for those staying more than a few day but the food we did order was excellent. A unique and wonderful end to our dream holiday!

Nicely renovated comfortable no frills hotel in a quiet location, out of season. A shuttle bus or ferry made the journey into Flam easy.
The breakfast was buffet style, good choice of mixed cold meats and cheeses. The evening meals were disappointing, and expensive as you expect in Norway. Having said that if you are only staying a couple of days a good stop over hotel.

Location was the most + point of our stay.
Location was the most + point of our stay. Fjord was just a stones throw away. Other points and places were a drive distance and flam was reachable both via ferry and shuttle.
Food for vegetarians is a little problematic in hotel as the buffet served has less options for veggies. There is Shell fuel pump and Xtra store that has some quick foods.

Gudvangen offers a ton of scenery and not much else.
Gudvangen offers a ton of scenery and not much else. Our overnight stay was more than enough time to enjoy a dinner at the only place in town, a brief hike to the WWII bunkers the following morning and time at the Njardarheimr Viking Village for a few hours until our bus left for Voss in the afternoon. Everything is within walking distance.

We enjoyed the Viking Village at Gudvangen, and the view of the mountains and waterfalls was superb. We were able to purchase food items at the nearby Joker gas station, which was well-stocked with ready made/easily prepared foods. We didn't get to do the kayaking available there, but that would have added a bonus. A very nice town!
We loved everything about this property. The views from the room and the restaurants onto the idyllic setting were just amazing. The seafood dinner was wonderful, the staff were all lovely and friendly, the whole place had a great feel. My 91 year old mother didn’t want to leave. We had planned to stay 2 nights in Flåm and just one night in Gudvangen but ended up so pleased we had the 2 nights in Gudvangen (although Flåm was really nice too).
Location, location, location. Fantastic views on the mountains with views on 5+ waterfall’s and more if it has been raining, the camping grounds are spacious with a lot of grass, playing fields and the site is near the ferry to Kaupanger and the Flåm-railway. Very nice staff and a little cafe with a camp fire for guests.
Facilities were excellent and clean. The chalet has a covered porch for dining al fresco.
Very clean, well serviced and a good base for Gudvangen/Flam. We were a little concerned beforehand about the shared toilet/shower thing, but in our two night stay it was never an issue. Shared facilities, like the bedroom, were very clean and other guests were very discreet. Another bonus was the free use of the washing machine and tumble dryer; much appreciated. Very good stay.
The bathroom was spacious and functional. The room had two twin beds pushed together (not ideal for a married couple, but not uncommon in accommodations in Norway). The bedding was crisp and clean, and sheets and towels were changed once during our stay. The breakfast was good, and the hotel is right beside the harbor with the ferry to Flam.
My husband loves all Viking things, so I surprised him with this hotel and viking room. Well, nice idea and nice room! Location in the middle of the mountains is great. Beds were comfort with waterfall view through roof window. It was rainy night, so it was not too much light. Breakfast was also good. Free parking nice.
The room was spacious, so the bathroom, with a nice view over the viking village and the mountains. Staff was very friendly. Location is amazing, right at the end of the Gudvangen fjord. Restaurant serves quality food. I loved to sit outside sipping a glass of mead while contemplating the beautiful evening view.
Could not ask for better from a budget hotel.
This is a simple hotel in an idyllic setting. The surroundings are awe inspiring and its hard not to have a mountain view.
The beds were so comfortable and everything was clean. The rooms were an excellent size. It was nice and relaxing place to stay.
I can't speak exactly for the budget hotel facilities because we were upgraded for free to the fjordhotell down the street (same owner). It was so nice, the room had a sky light you could see stars at night, from bed. All of the staff were so incredibly kind and the view all around were stunning!
The hotel is amazing! The facilities are great: nice towel and linen, amazing food from the restaurant, and the astonishing view of the fjords. But the best part of the hotel was the people, they were super friendly, nice and made us feel super comfortable.
What an amazing hotel! There has been so much thought, love, and care put into this place. The most unique hotel I've ever been to, with some of the most gorgeous views in the world! And the Viking Valley is an absolute must-see!
Great alternative to the expensive hotel down the road. Toilets and showers were super clean which was lovely. Spacious room with terrace-nice! Perfect location. Had the breakfast at the hotel which was nice.
Upgraded us to Gudvangen Hotel which was really lovely. Room was great with many interesting features. Loved the sod roof and the glass part of the roof with a view of mountains Waterfall and night sky
The Viking rooms were spacious with a wonderful view of the hills through the skylight. The breakfast was quite good. The staff worked very hard - acting as both servers and hotel receptionists.
The view is perfect. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room is cozy, clean and new. The price is reasonable. The supermarket and gas station is nearby. Highly recommend.
