Comfortable bed, electric blanket, heat pump, good shower pressure, shower head on flexible hose, stool for sitting on in shower (we were in a disability unit). Roomy freezer compartment in the fridge kept all our chilly packs frozen. Microwave clock was set & with correct time.

The owners were amazingly lovely to deal with, the security gate was something new, but made me safe. Close to the amenities which was another nice but did not hear a thing. It pays to read the signs around the room, as I missed 2.

The staff were very polite and approachable. The shower was definitely the highlight, super warm! Very accommodating with a large dog, definitely the easiest and most stress free accomodation with a dog.

Ashburton was a short stop over 1 night stay on our way to Dunedin and further south. I would recommend Kelly’s cafe on the Main Street. I probably wouldn’t return to Ashburton unless I was just passing through. The beach had the most amazing flat round smooth stones if you are into stone painting at all.

Perfect for the overnight stop to do a local meal and a show at the event centre.
But I would be more than happy to stay for a few days at this quiet, well-set-up large motel. With more programs to work from on the TV than most homes anytime.

You get what you pay for.
You get what you pay for. Definitely the place we will stay each time we pass through, it’s not perfect but it’s better than other places. Nice staff. Nice room, I wish the cleanliness was a little better but aside from that a convenient place to stay.

I liked the fact that everything I needed was on either of the main streets (both the shops street and the by-pass road). People are pleasant and helpful, and Ashburton doesn't feel too big or touristy. A great place to stay if you want to use as a base to explore other activities in the area.

We stopped here to see the Aviation Heritage Museum. It was a great place to stop and rest prior to travelling into Christchurch. We found it a very friendly, slower paced area that allowed us to rest before the city exposure.

The ability to use a service road to get around the city centre - didn't have to use the busy State Highway 1.
A lot of places were shut for New Years but we found a decent Indian restaurant and really enjoyed that .
Great weather .
Downside was the attitude and behaviour of the staff at the motel . Left a negative on the trip .
This is the third or fourth time I've stayed during drives the length of the South Island - so each time I was very tired. The hotel is wonderfully placed, the beds are very comfortable and fresh, the room warm, the basic eating facility is all that's required. And two of these times I have had my Golden Retriever with me. As long as I had her on her own bed and she behaved I was made to feel welcome with her. I will continue to stay here I'm sure.
Given it's on the main road it is surprisingly quiet with the door closed.
Thistle Cottage is the place to stay in Ashburton. It is quiet, spacious and very comfortable. The facilities are clean, tidy and well presented. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are a generous size. The kitchen has everything you need as described. The best feature is the owner Michelle who is accommodating, friendly and generous. Her communication is outstanding and she goes the extra mile to assist where she can.
Very clean and comfortable. Great appliances and all the pots and cutlery that is needed.
Spa bath was great. Room was modern and very well set up. Great size TV with all the usual Apps.
Felt very welcome by friendly accommodating staff.
Would absolutely recommend Taylor's Motel and would stay here whenever we are in Ashburton.
Everything. The people were friendly and down to earth. The room was large and comfortable and suited my needs. My favourite was the spa bath. I was in Ashburton for a busy time and it was sooo good being able to go back to the room to relax, unwind and the wonderful rejuvinating bath bag just topped everything off.
The rooms seem recently remodeled- everything fresh, pretty bed linens and pillows, spotlessly clean. Location was great for travelers- we were just passing through as we headed south. Accommodations were made for our late arrival, milk in the fridge for our coffee and tea- so thoughtful.
For the price, we didn't have high expectations for our one night stopover, so were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the accommodation: a spotlessly clean, quiet, spacious, modern unit with a good-sized separate bedroom and a proper kitchen. Ideal for a family of four.
Location on a farm 5 minutes drive from Ashburton.
Medium sized cottage with independent access from farm house.
So much better to be in a quiet place with birds and ducks and rabbits than traffic noise on a main road.
Well set up with all that you need.
Amazing accommodation. Everything was of the highest quality and it was so well appointed. I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a premium experience. Lovely quiet location, beautiful view of snowcapped mountains. Just stunning!
Great location for business in Ashburton. My unit was right at the back of the property so quiet from the road. Room was clean and cozy with all I needed for my two night stay. Would stay again, thanks team.
The room was quiet and suitable for rest with large twin beds. There was plenty space for luggage. The hotel's location was near the main road and easy to find. The receptionist was nice and helpful.
The room was wheelchair accessible. It was clean and tidy. Good sized rooms. Ashburton was a good stop over place. It was easy to book, check in and check out. thanks
The room is big compared to a normal hotel room. With heater for the bed and bath room. This helps during winter time. Laundry & dryer machines site as well.
