The staff were so awesome, the receptionist went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and even helped me find if Arthurs Pass was open!

We had a lovely welcome from the host. The accommodation was inexpensive. Its in a lovely building but in my opinion in need of some serious renovation.

A very strong, freezing wind was blowing, unfortunately, during my stay, which hampered my exploration of the Greymouth area. The library was well set up for Wifi and warmth. I was unable to find a cafe/restaurant with good food. Coffee was good. The iSite staff were friendly, and were able to answer all of my questions. I arrived on the TranzAlpine train, this journey was well worth while.

Global Village Travelers hostel was the most attractive of the six I stayed in during my visit to the West Coast. It was clean, well decorated, and welcoming. Each bed of my female only dorm room had its own electrical outlet and light. The kitchen was clean and well stocked with cookware. Lots of books and pamphlets in the common rooms about the surrounding area. I recommend it highly for solo female travelers!

Very good stopping pony to visit pancake rocks and the blow holes. We walked to the coal creek falls which was lovely. We drove to Franz Josef, Fox Glacier and Hokitika. Greymouth was okay but there is absolutely nothing to do when it’s raining. Its only a small town.. the big pils is it has no traffic lights!

We enjoyed eating at the Speights Ale House and having coffee at the Robert Harris Coffee lounge. Our stay at the Sundowner Motel was clean and spacious. Our hosts were helpful and this made our stay enjoyable. The information boards around the town were interesting to read as we walked around but once we had accomplished this there was not a lot else to do. We would have liked to hire a car and explore further a field but no one would allow us to hire a car for a day.

Greymouth itself is not very attractive but the coastal drive north to Punakaiki offers fantastic scenery, and Hokitika Gorge to the south will not disappoint. There’s a small restaurant in Greymouth called Sevenpenny which was very good, far better than the overpriced restaurant in our hotel.
The Duke Hostel was a brilliant two-night stay for us! Firstly, the owner is super friendly and a really nice and helpful guy.
Next up, the rooms, kitchen, bathrooms were all immaculate and exceptionally clean. The bed was extra comfy! The communal kitchen had everything we needed and was very well kept.
This is one of the best hostels we've stayed in during our 5 week trip through New Zealand and we'd definitely recommend staying here!
Thanks!
This was the nicest property we stayed in during our holiday in New Zealand including some that were much more expensive. It is is a lovely rural location and the option of having a slow roast cooked by the hosts who sat and chatted with us was wonderful. Really lovely touches in the suite including decent toiletries and furnishings.
This property is easily accessible in an excellent, quiet and peaceful, secluded bush clad location and is centrally located to explore the West Coast from Greymouth to Hokitika with the convenience of shopping not too far away.
We didn't use the hot tub in the bush surrounds but our relatives did; it was a lovely bonus for them!
The Sundowner is my "go to" first choice in Greymouth. It's a "CCC" property ... comfortable, clean & convenient and the owners Abby & TJ are very helpful. Sometimes simple is just better than elegant, so unless they have no vacancy that's where I like to stay ...
We had a very comfortable stay in Greymouth for the night. The apartment was very spacious and full of natural light. Kitchen facilities were also a bonus, especially the hob. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Thanks!
The owner was very friendly, welcoming and had great local information.
We were upgraded to the zebra room. It was very comfortable and I loved the theme.
What a great little town Greymouth is. Wish we had stayed longer.
We liked the location being near to town and to family, whom we were in Greymouth to visit. We had a warm welcome at reception and the room was warm on arrival, it was clean and chairs and beds were comfortable.
Stayed here for the first time last year when the new owners had just taken over. Very welcoming and accommodating. The room is/was as expected and will stay here again next time we're in Greymouth.
Walking in the door and seeing the sea view WOW.. Beautiful unit, quiet, beds comfy. Great hosts. Could not fault anything. One of the best motels weve stayed in, in along time. Cant wait to go back
Friendly staff, reasonable quality restaurant, building has been upgraded but it seems to be a work unfinished or on limited budget in certain areas - rooms, restaurant (carpet appears to be dated).
Great staff who were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to the train station and the hotel will pick you up or drop you off. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. Highly recommended.
Paroa Hotel and Restaurant is a well established and professionally run operation. Can highly recommend all aspects of this business will meet/exceed any reasonable expectations.
