I was looking for a place to stay near the golf course we planned to visit for the weekend and found The Gallery. It's just a 5-minute drive to Kinloch Club, which is fantastic. Driving into the driveway, we were warmly welcomed by Rod, who introduced us to Jo. Jo gave us a thorough briefing about our room, the facilities, places nearby to check out and breakfast. They are truly warm and genuine people.
Although they live in the house, it wasn't an issue at all. We had a few enjoyable small chats about golf, and Rod even gave us tips on which golf courses to explore next. I loved the small talks with them; they were genuinely lovely people and we felt their excitement of having guests in their lovely home.
We had our own room, which was very comfy and warm—just what we needed after a day on the golf course in cold, winter weather. We had our own bathroom, and the bed was very clean, very comfy, and fresh. We stayed for two nights, and each morning I woke up feeling energized and well-rested. Bath robes and towels were provided too! It's a peaceful home, perfect for us, trying to recover energy after a full day at the golf course. I have to say, I love their home decor. The lamps, paintings, sculptures and even the chairs are all beautiful and add a stylish, tasteful touch.
Breakfast was ready in the dining area each morning. Jo is excellent in the kitchen, and I could tell some of the spread was homemade and very delicious! Breakfast reminded me of my mum, as I could sense Jo's care and passion in the preparation.
We would love to go back and stay in the summer. I can imagine having breakfast in the outdoor garden would be delightful! Thank you very much Rod and Jo for welcoming us into your home!

It's a stunning location, with great views. We really enjoyed our stay here, Peter and Michelle were awesome hosts and very welcoming. Excellent breakfast with eggs from their own chickens, and spinach picked straight from the garden, all served with great coffee too. It was special to hand feed the deer too, something you can't get anywhere else! It was only a short drive through pretty countryside to Taupo township, where we went for dinner. Nice to stay in a new location near town with a different perspective and view of the lake.
Hilton Lake Taupo includes free pool and gym access and features views over Lake Taupo and is just minutes away from the town centre. It is a 15-minute drive from Taupo Airport.
This Millennium Hotel and Resort is located right on the edge of Lake Taupo. It offers luxury accommodation and facilities that include a heated pool, sauna, gym and tennis court.

The beach is nice but it is always super crowded like the Riveria or something. Very limited facilities in Kinloch with just one general store and a cafe both of which are always busy because of the beach crowds. If staying in Kinloch you need to bring food with you.

We had never been to Kinloch before.
We had never been to Kinloch before. Couldn't get accomodation in Taupo due a sports event. We were enroute to Wanganui and breaking up the trip. Kinloch was lovely to walk around, a marina with fantastic homes and bridges across the marina. A nice beach im sure in the summer. Lovely parks and walkways. Very impressed with Kinloch but lacked in the food department. There is a takeaway fish and chip shop with a pizza oven in the summer months only. Dreadful fish and burnt chips! Didn't feel like going out for dinner so made the mistake of getting takeaways. Go to the one restaurant to not be dissapointed.

We were there for an event so the location was perfect.
We were there for an event so the location was perfect. There are more eating out options in Taupo - Kinloch was a bit limited. We had been recommended the pizza at the general Store but that is on offer in summer only. Pluses - Nice and quiet. Beautiful scenery. Lovely walks and mountain biking. Great coffee at the General Store.

Small lakeside village, beautiful peaceful and relaxing environment. Great marina for boats, excellent golf course but light on social amenities : one well stocked general store with takeaway options but only one restaurant with limited opening hours in the winter.

A lovely quiet area close to Taupo.
A lovely quiet area close to Taupo. The Tipsy Trout serves great food an coffee. The general store has a good supply of what you may need as well as fish and cips and pizzas for takeout.
The views up at the look out are fantastic and the beach around the lake is beautiful.
