The idea of an upscale motel was appealing, but the low quality design execution, the quirky decorations and poor upkeep did not live up to the expectations.

We were in town for a College Basketball game. The campus was clean and busy. The city was hit or miss. We did not feel safe in the hotel neighborhood, The city seemed dark and unwelcoming. Law enforcement rarely seen, except directing game traffic.

I lived in Athens for 37 and just went back for a visit. Athens is a wonderful place to live and to visit. There are top-notch restaurants, bars, parks, especially the State Botanical Gardens, and lots of cultural and sporting activities on and off campus and minimal traffic, except on game day (!). The University of Georgia campus is gorgeous and a beautiful place for a stroll to admire the grounds and the historic buildings. The downtown area is charming too with its restaurants, coffee shops, and stores. There are also lots of great options for vegans, but my favorite dish is the Vegan Clay Pot with maple smoked tofu and a delicious assortment of veggies at The Last Resort, served only for brunch on the weekends. It's the best dish I've ever eaten. Athens is definitely worth a visit if you happen to be in the area.

Loved our stay in downtown Athens.
Loved our stay in downtown Athens. Lots of great restaurants and local boutique-type shops. Very walkable to the UGA campus and Sanford Stadium. It was invigorating being right in the center of the action on a game weekend.

Fantastic fun city, not what I expected, but the "stay-cation" was for more than just fun... We were scouting for a possible move from the Atlanta area. What we found was disappointing. The city is not very disabled nor senior friendly (in our opinion). The weekend, despite being a holiday weekend, the city was dead. Sunday, nothing, well, almost nothing, was open in town. We had to go a couple miles out of downtown to find something to eat for breakfast. Even in town, "everyone" drives much faster than the speed limit. There were literally dozens of men and women sleeping on the sidewalks and panhandling. I'm sure it must be different when it is cooler, but overall, we were disappointed. Even the apartment prices and home prices were "Midtown Atlanta" level, while Athens is not the "super" city Atlanta is.

The Graduate is centrally located, that is the good news.
The Graduate is centrally located, that is the good news. However, they take every opportunity to increase the price, complete with a $100 security deposit on your credit card to be evaluated after you leave and a $10 parking/security charge and a $5 charge for a bottle of water that was never used. If you want to feel like a convicted felon who typically trashes a room be my guest.

Rooms and linens both looked unclean had stains on both and both mornings they had to get breakfast from an outside source and then; they didn't have enough or that's what they were telling the guest; but I saw 2 employees walking around with breakfast and I didn't get enough to feed my 3 grand kids.
I have to commend the staff at the Hilton Garden Inn, Athens. Of course the hotel was perfect. What wasn't perfect was the unforseen tornado. As the sirens in the area went off, the staff was cool, collected and displayed ultimate professionalism. After the tornado threat came a fire alarm just a few hours later- yet again excellent professionalism.
Very impressive 👏
Side note. Breakfast was amazing!!
The best part of the hotel was it’s proximity to the Athens Twilight Criterium, which was our whole reason for coming on the trip. We were within walking distance and it was convenient. The front desk staff was friendly and I appreciate them being available 24/7. The fake student ID cards as room keys was a fun touch.
House was very clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated. Conveniently located between downtown Athens and Alps Road. It included extras like an electronic game table (we played Candy Land and Scrabble, and other games) and coffee pods. The hosts were very quick to respond to inquiries. Beds were comfortable.
The location was great. Close enough to the areas I had to go while I was in town. Plenty if places to eat. The whole hotel as well as my room was neat and clean. The staff was helpful and courteous; not just courteous but very nice. The breakfast was excellent and I always felt safe and welcome.
I was locked out of the hotel I never even got to stay I was forced to reserve another room at a hotel that was almost twice as much because of the availability and location and the fact that they were not let me in even though I had a reservation.
The room is very nicely put together, , in terms of the interior architecture, and nicely appointed for a hotel in this class. Everything, most esp. the bed and the combination of reading chair and desk chair, was comfortable.
The hotel lobby, elevator and halls smelled musty and dirty. The lighting in the room was dim. The rooms just felt unclean. The bathroom was nice as was the desk clerk. She was lovely and welcoming.
The beds were comfortable. The price was the reason we chose to stay. It’s not a brand new hotel, but not bad considering the price and location.
No bugs and the room was clean and smelled fine.
The tub was not clean, the shower has molding falling down. The room looked like the construction was not complete. They advertised a hot breakfast and there was no sausage or bacon.
Gorgeous location, very individually decorated rooms. And just a few minutes walk and you are in beautiful Athens downtown. This is a fantastic place to stay.
