This is a lovely mountain hamlet 20 minutes from downtown Santa Cruz. Our B&B was a great alternative to the chain hotels & motels in downtown SC that are in the same general price range but which can be noisy at night, have a marginal breakfast & typically no view.
We were visiting the area to help a relative with a home project, so we didn't have an opportunity to hike the local trails or do water activities on Loch Lomond, but we definitely would have if we had had more time.
We took our relative to dinner at Casa Nostra, which has excellent Italian food in a charming setting. (We knew this from a prevoius visit.)
Our relative highly recommends Spanky's diner for breakfast, but alas, we had an excellent breakfast covered by the B&B we stayed at. Too bad we're not hobbits!

Small town with a few great restaurants (Tyrolean Inn and Casa Nostra), a fun dive bar (Henfling's), amazing garden center (Mountain Feed & Farm Supply), and an excellent supermarket to get picnic or other supplies. And all of those are in walking distance of each other. It's also only a few miles drive to the larger town of Felton.

I used to live in Ben Lomand back in the 1970s.
I used to live in Ben Lomand back in the 1970s. It was a great trip down memory lane for me. Unfortunately it is now way overcrowded. Santa Cruz is insanely over crowded. I couldn't even drive to my favorite old surfing spots, there was so much traffic.
So I staye around San Lorenzo Valley.
One of the Highlights was hiking around Big Basin among 2,000 year old redwoods.
The service is superb! The hosts are nice, sociable people and have the coziest bed and breakfast around. The location is near everything you need in Ben Lomond while also having enough space to feel like you are alone in the woods. The breakfasts are delicous and fresh! We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.
The staff in the office were very courteous. The bed was very nice but I had a hard time sleeping. It is hard to sleep in a strange bed. We lost power and I had to stay at a hotel because it was very cold in my home. I had stayed there before when it was the Hilton. I live about a mile from the hotel so it was convenient.
What a cute bed and breakfast, inside and out! Convenient for Santa Cruz too.
Most importantly, the owner went above and beyond to make my stay wonderful. I had to leave too early to get the delicious home cooked breakfast so she packed a gourmet to-go breakfast for me!
We loved everything about our experience, Host was very accommodating to our needs, location in the woods was excellent for our plan trip and just minutes away from Santa Cruz boardwalk and other areas of our interest. Breakfast and coffee were very savory.
Innkeepers were friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and quiet. Large shared sitting room. Breakfasts were beautiful and tasty. Close to Santa Cruz and Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. Stopped at Big Basin on the way to our home in San Jose.
The house is in a rural setting in a residential neighborhood. Close to all the areas of the Santa Cruz mountains that we wanted to visit and minutes from Santa Cruz too. I will definitely be looking for additional opportunities to stay on B&Bs.
Breakfast was delicious! The location was perfect for attending concerts at Roaring Camp and Felton Music Hall, also close for day trips to downtown Santa Cruz. We loved the property and found it very relaxing.
Motel was older, but very clean & quiet. Bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location was close to both Santa Cruz and Henry Callow Redwood State Park. Price was really reasonable.
