Bishop is a small town that offers a bunch of outdoor recreation. We mainly go for the rock climbing in the area. It is also a great stop if you're headed to Mammoth, June Lake, Yosemite, etc. from the south. It's more or less our home away from home. Due to the small nature of the town, it's very easy to meet locals that you could possibly see on your next visit, and it's easy to get around and to know which spots to get gas and food from. For food, we recommend the taco truck (Taqueria mi Guadalajara), Indiego, and Erick Schat's. For climbing gear, my favorite would be the mammoth gear exchange.

We just stayed for the night on our way out of Yosemite NP. Hard to comment with that limited stay. Getting to the City is easy if you love Sierra mountains. You need a taxi. I would explore Bishop more in future. Nice access point to Sierra.

Bishop is a wonderful place for outdoor activities pretty much anytime of year. I had passed through town many times and finally had the opportunity to to spend a week. I barely scratched the surface of this small town. I would start the day at Pupfish Cafe or Black Sheep Coffee Roasters for coffee and a light breakfast. Spellbinder Books was definitely worth a visit as I found a few books to add to my traveling collection. There are off-road and hiking trails all around the surrounding area, with plenty of camping and fishing opportunities as well. The Laws Railroad Museum is a surprising treat.

I love Bishop & the Eastern Sierra... I come here often and generally come to Bishop for Mule Days each year but have also come for a Pack Trip and also fishing. I love this little town and the ability to walk down the main street to eat & shop... this trip we did some fishing and had great success.

Always a good stay with friendly staff and simple...
Always a good stay with friendly staff and simple accommodations that are sufficient to get a good night rest and also make friendships. Super convenient and clean. I would suggest they add a compost bin to their trash and recycling bin area.
Cheap and cheerful. Best Western offers the benefit of a safe & comfortable stay vs some other accommodation in a similar price band, always go for them as a brand. Front desk were helpful. Rooms were fine in size, split across the forecourt - we weren't disturbed by neighbours etc.. - had a pool (which we didn't use). Breakfast included and main road location made it a good stopover after a long drive ahead of the next day.
The room was clean and freshly painted. It was very quiet, as requested, at the rear of the building. No additional charge for the dogs was a huge plus, most motels charge extra for this, some as much as $25 per dog, and I resent paying this as they are no additional work, it's not like they spend hours in the shower and use extra towels...
Really nice combination between high class hostel and a hotel. Rooms are modern and super clean. Kitchen has everything! Seriously do not even bring salt if you want to cook. Otherwise, restaurants are walking distance. No TV , who need it? Fireplace and bbq grills for everyone to use .
It’s such a great value when you’re passing through Bishop on your way to Mammoth and don’t want to drive up the hill late at night with icy conditions.. it’s clean the staff is really nice and they don’t over charge you resort fees like some other places in town I have stayed..
The hotel room was not kept up, bugs found in the room, hair in the bathtub, the breakfast was just waffles, yogurt, cereal bread for toast, coffee was awful 😞 I will never stay there again, way overpriced for what it was.
Great for a stop over and close to food, coffee and the Bishop City Park. Had a laundry and even though we didn’t fish, they had fish cleaning stations and freezers to store fish. pretty good. Breakfast was decent too.
Both our private room and the shared facilities were clean and comfortable. My kids enjoyed the outdoor spaces. I liked that it felt like we had more privacy than we would at a traditional hotel or motel.
The room was clean and quiet. It had a TV, microwave, and refrigerator. The bed was comfortable. It is right on the main drag in Bishop (as are most of the other motels) so restaurants are close by.
Nice location and practical. The young man who welcomed us in the night was not very welcoming but the other man we met in the morning was very nice. If you pass through Bishop I recommend this place.
Very nice old house. Great common spaces. Clean and in the middle of bishop so you can easily walk anywhere you need in town. The private room was large, and comfortable. No storage space tho.
Everything was very well done. I will recommend to anyone visiting Bishop to stay here. Also the food at Molcajetes is outstanding and is in walking distance from the Hotel.
centrally located in Bishop California… walking distance to food and stores… The bowling alley behind the hotel was great, and they have great food as well..
