It is a good place to stay for a visit to Crater Lake. The town has very few restaurants that are open at odd days. The taco place and Chalet restaurant were very good. Hwy 97 is a busy trucker road so it is a little noisy. The town looks run down.

Chemult is less than one hour from each of Crater Lake and Toketee Falls and Deschutes National Forest. It is about 3 hours south of Bend and Newberry Volcanic and Lava Butte. I definitely recommend all three. I recommend the trolley ride around Crater Lake. Avoid Toketee if you have vertigo or are unsteady on your feet because of 20-foot section with narrow path and cliff. Further North at Newberry the Obsidian Flow trail is exceptional and there are hand-railings for the climbs and worth it as long as you can handle steps with railing and slightly jagged path for the actual loop on top of the flow. The Paulina Falls is worth the walk also.

The town of Chemult is basically a truck stop, but is the closest town with lodging near Crater Lake. There is one diner/tavern in town and a way overpriced Mexican food truck. Do not stay at the Budget Inn. There are two other motels in town, one.much nicer for the price (but with only 8 rooms) and the Chemult Motel which is comparable to the Budget Inn, but $30 a night less expensive.

Small town with appropriate restaurants to support tourists visiting Crater Lake National Park. No favorite restaurants or places -- the town was ok but not memorable. Except for Crater Lake I do not see any reason to visit this area.

I appreciate Chemult's proximity to Crater Lake NP and Diamond Lake.
The town has a Chevron gas station.
There is very little else in options for food, either dine-in, take-out, or buying groceries (there is a mini-mart).
The town is small enough you can walk around town, which is all along the highway.
If you like to eat Hockey Puck Hamburgers, i.e. charbroiled well done cooked hamburgers, go to Loree's Chalet Restaurant. They are dining-in (went on March 20, 2021) and have plenty of space inside. They do have decent onion rings. This place is probably your best food option if you need to dine-out.

Everyone was so friendly and helpful.
Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The food at the Chalet restaurant was just like home. Laree, the owner, was so nice. I ate breakfast at the Wagon Wheel where the pancake covered my entire plate. Mmmmm. Lots of gas stations and several other food services. It was the perfect stop to gas up, spend a restful night and head on to Tahoe.
The lodge is very close to Crater Lake National Park. We were able to stop here on a road trip and check in late. The front desk staff member Craig was extremely friendly and helpful with check in. We chose this spot because it is dog friendly and it was the perfect space for one night. They don’t have great wifi but do provide a selection of DVDs to chose from for entertainment. The friendly staff made it feel like a very safe pit stop in an unfamiliar place. Also the coffee in the morning was great! Much better than most hotels
Owner lives on property and is very accommodating. The bed was awesome and one of the most comfortable I have stayed in. Suite had a balcony. Body wash in bath tub included - this was a special feel-at-home treat. Inn is located across the street from 24-hour Pilot gas and 24-hour Subway restaurant. Convenient to Crater Lake and Toketee Falls. Coffee, flavored teas and hot cider are provided free of charge. Coin laundry just south about 3 buildings and can walk.
Comfortable bed and pillows. Heat worked well as did the shower. Interesting (though odd) old airplane fuselage and fire truck on site - labeled as a playground (though they had sharp edges and would have been unsafe for children to explore). The location near Crater Lake was convenient as there aren’t many hotels near the park. The manager was friendly and helpful when we needed to switch the reservation to one night earlier than originally planned.
After reading other reviews I had my expectations SO LOW that I actually liked the place. I got the "haunted" Trupp Room (google "Dawson House Lodge - Chemult OR Real Haunts") and it was great. We both slept like babies (long day of hikes!) and got up at 10 am, way later than planned. The room was super dark and that was another reason of a good night sleep. There's a gas station right across the highway - we got snacks and breakfast food there.
There wasn't any breakfast but there was hot coffee and hot water for tea in the lobby in the morning. There weren't enough cups nor was there any milk. We chose this hotel based on its location close to the entrance to Crater Lake. The bed was clean, comfortable and the wood bed post frame is attractive. The bathroom was clean but the sink was worn and unattractive.
Clean, convenient and cheap. It's not the Ritz but has everything I needed to relax, get cleaned up, have a good night's sleep. And very conveniently located near all the necessities. This was my second stay for work and it won't be my last.
Clean room that a DIY-er had upgraded poorly. I wasn't expecting the property to be stellar and I have stayed in other "near a National Park" places before, but this one was way overpriced!
Family run, very friendly and had inside information about what to see on the way to Crater lake. We got an upgrade at no extra cost . Good place for a quick sleep over.
Very stylish guesthouse/lodge in Chemult. The rooms are comfy, staff nice, coffee always available. In general, a nice stop during travelling in this part of USA.
