Very cute place, clean, spacious trailer with outdoor fire pit. There is EV charger, that was very useful. An hour drive from Yosemite valley, but the drive is pretty

For first time visitors to the area we did not have any idea of the distances involved or the facilities in the area so we took a gamble on the property. The Yosemite Bug resort is well located for a property outside of the park (around 30 min or so from Yosemite Valley from memory). It's also one of the better priced properties as it can get pretty pricey, especially with the AUD/US conversion. There is decent food available at the restaurant too. Breakfasts were Ok, dinner was pretty good, although the popular options sold out quickly. They did packed lunches too although we thought they were a bit pricey and you can buy food in the valley, which was not as expensive as we imagined it might be for such a popular place.
Located in a structure built in 1901, this historic Mariposa hotel features uniquely decorated rooms with period furnishings and solid oak woodwork. A free continental breakfast is served daily.

Very clean and neat. Mary, the inn keeper is the best! Overall, great experience.

As many others have pointed out: the front desk staff at this place is amazing, especially Brandie. As a woman travelling solo the friendliness of the staff helped me feel at ease. The pool and hot tub are amazing after a long day of hiking. I did my laudry while I was there and that was great, too. The gym is very basic but did the trick! Breakfast is good, too. I would certainly stay again!

Quiet apartment in a quiet street. Well equipped kitchen, comfy bed. View of the garden and the street. Everything fine.

Midpines is a small town and you have to travel far to get into town for restaurants and gas. However, it is close to yosemite and there are lots of options for hotels. Autocamp just opened so that may bring more business to this little town.
There is a brewery with very friendly staff called 1850. The food is fine and the beers are good but the staff is great.
There is also Mariposa Coffee Co. the coffee is great and the owner has a lot of personality... The storefront itself is very fun and coffee themed. They also have great merch.

If you like to be out in nature.
If you like to be out in nature. Midpines is definatly a good place to go. Nearest small town was 7 miles away from where I stayed. So close but not too close. I stayed at the Bug Rustic Mountain Resort. If you are looking for a quiet but charming and nice place to stay, this is the place for you. But a couple things to be aware of. 1, if using google gps for directions. As you get close to your destination, it'll tell you to take Colorado road. Do not take that road! As the gps will end up taking you down a really bad dirt road. And it will not take you to the property! If taking California 140 west heading towards Yosemite. Once you see the turn for Colorado Rd. Just keep going straight for about a mile or so. You'll see the sign on the left for the resort. 2, parking for the resort is small. So as night comes and more people start arriving. If you leave and come back. You'll more than likely have to park at the very top parking lot. And while it is a realtively short walk back to the main area. It is a steep walk to return to your vehicle. So I'd suggest just staying put after around 7pm if you wish to retain your spot. But overall this place is great!

There is no toilet, no sink, and to go to the toilet, you have to drive and go to the motel. Do you get paid for rent? If I knew it was like this, I would never go. The motel tells me to park in the car and go up the mountain when the end is up.

The area was absolutely beautiful with winding roads through the mountains and forests leading up to Yosemite.
Everything is a bit spread out, so expect to drive longer distances for restaurants and stores, or even just to get to and from Yosemite. But this was a small price to pay for the gorgeous scenery.
Additionally, Mariposa isn't too far away, and it had grocery stores and some good restaurants. We really enjoyed a diner called Happy Burger Diner. Their burgers were delicious (obviously), but I also really enjoyed their Club Sandwich.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay in this area.

Midpines is just a milepost on the way to Yosemite - nothing much to say about it other than it has places to stay. Beware that CA 120 has a one lane road in/out of Yosemite and isn't likely to change in the near future (it has been this way since 2006).

I really liked the friendly atmosphere of the place.
I really liked the friendly atmosphere of the place. It was as if I owned a cabin in the woods. Felt at home, comfortable. Not like the other places, hotels that we stayed at on this trip. Hotels are impersonal. The cabins were completely different.
The camper was beautiful, and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. There was free coffee and granola in the morning, and live music some evenings.
We stayed during the flooding/heavy rain in the area. The staff were exceptionally accommodating when we needed to contact another hotel, and rebook for another night as a result of the weather.
such a nice atmosphere at the campsite. very helpful staff who helped us plan an amazing day in Yosemite National park. it’s an easy drive to the national park too, only took us around 40 minutes. the airstream is so cool and we’ll designed, much nicer than a lot of hotels we have stayed at! the bbq outside each airstream is a really nice touch too.
Decently close to Yosemite entrance, the hotel has a really cool dining room with wooden walls and quirky decoration and a fireplace where guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner and just relax and hang out. We stayed in a private room and the beds was comfortable and clean. Nice shower pressure. Good price!
Great location to visit Yosemite, facilities are good and clean!
It is great to have such a hostel around Yosemite, where you find mainly expensive hotels.
It seems also well managed (at the first evening there was an issue with the aircon, which was quickly solved the next day).
The staff of the hotel its the best, everyone treat us wonderful, were very helpfull and warm.
The tents were great, with a door and lock to save our luggage.
Bathrooms were clean and confortable.
The Bar was amazing, with home Cooking options to dinner and lunch.
The spa!!! Only $15 to get access into the the hot baths, yoga room and sauna. Really nice place to relax at the end of the day!!!
Closest (and cheapest place) near Yosemite, comfortable dorm rooms, good kitchen with lots of space to cook, nice bar/restaurant area.
LouAnn is such a nice person and genuinely cared about providing us a place to stay. The hotel was comfortable even though it was a bit outdated but we had no issues with this place and the value was very good considering how close it is to the Yosemite Valley.
We stayed at a cabin, the room was impeccable, beds very comfortables and the decor was interesting and unique. It is a very nice hotel on a mountain, with nice views and lots of personality. Would have loved to stayed there for more than one night.
It was actually a surprise for me when I see the "cabin", it is comfortable with all appliances you need to when you stay overnight near Yosemite. The hot water and clean towels in the bathroom make the sense of civilization in the rural area.
This hotel was the best place I have ever stayed. It was super clean, the facilities and what was included was great. They have thought of literally everything you should or would need. Magical experience from start to finish. Thank you.
I liked that the hotel rooms were scattered around the hillside property, making this Resort truly rustic & spacious from the typical norm of a hotel property.
The rooms were interesting in that they did’t have TV’s, nor a room phone,
A very stylish, modern hotel made with great design taste. It's very nice to be in it. The rooms themselves are thought out to the smallest detail. We will definitely return more than once, including to their other branches.
The cabins are located about 30 minutes from El Portal. They are very well equipped for a family stay and the owner is super nice and responsive.
It’s great value for money.
