Even though just off the highway, it was quiet. We used the hotel as a base, and were out most of the time, but it was a great room to come back to - comfortable and spacious.

It was very quiet and a good location for what we wanted to do but there were no facilities at the hotel I.e a bar, somewhere to sit and relax other than in your room and if you don’t have a car you’re quite a walk from anywhere

It was a last minute booking as we changed our travel route. It was a very clean hotel and room, the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was close to the highway and downtown. There was a nice breakfast area.
Right next door to Dan & Whit’s, a classic Vermont...
Right next door to Dan & Whit’s, a classic Vermont institution of the old fashion general stores that has EVERYTHING! Norwich is a stunningly beautiful town great for walking. Connecticut River is down the street. Has swimming holes in summer. Norwich is close to really fun spots like White River Junction, VT, Hanover, NH, Montshire Museum, King Arther Flour bakery & museum type set-up, and the Appalachian Trail!
The room felt like home. High ceilings and fire place made it so cozy. Heated towel rack was a plus! The shared living room spaces in the main Inn were welcoming and very cozy as well. Multiple fireplaces, sofas added to the ambiance. We also ate at the restaurant. While the food was ok, the beer was great!
Having the large classy bathroom and a switch-on gas fireplace, in a large elegant room was the bomb. It was nice to have muffins and a Keurig in the lobby for us early risers. Love the old time New England feel of inn keepers doing all the different aspects of running this operstion
Such a charming place to stay! Loved everything about this place - breakfast was great, but cocktails in the evening were even better! This is what you think of when you are looking the for quintessential New England Inn. Very friendly service and the beds were SO comfortable!
The Inn was easy to find. Fortunately, a friend told us to ask for a room in Walker because there is an elevator. Otherwise, we had been assigned to the main building with many stairs. At our advanced age it would not have been possible to climb stairs with our baggage.
The setting on Main Street, Norwich makes this an iconic New England inn.
It was a benefit to me to be next door to Dan & Whit’s General Store, allowing me easy access to prepared food and refreshing drinks
Old inn with a great location, fun outdoor seating for relaxation on front lawn or porch, comfortable room, good restaurant for dinner, convenient location to Hanover and Norwich.
Wondering how many people have stayed here since 1797? The rebuilt Victorian main building in 1890 after the fire has been standing for 130 years? Cheers for the Inn.
