Sonesta ES Suites New Orleans Convention Center, hotel in New Orleans

Situated in the Arts- Warehouse District district of New Orleans, Sonesta ES Suites New Orleans Convention Center provides a tennis court, a fitness centre and barbecue facilities.

Spacious room with very comfortable design (we slept two people, one on the bed, the other on the sofa). Bed very comfortable and large. In the room a kitchenette, you can prepare yourself something to eat and eating table; there was also a comfortable desk in our room. Nearby bar/restaurant, where you can also eat something, art museum, and other interesting places in the district. I also appreciate the computer with a printer for guest use.

Actually not sure if this request is a joke. I booked and paid for an alternative hotel due to me finding out weeks after I paid for this hotel that the 'open all year round' pool was closed - neither me, booking.com or some very kind staff at other hotels in America could get this hotel to answer emails or their phone.

FAQs about hotels in New Orleans

Getting its Rhythm Back

The home of jazz, intriguing New Orleans evokes images of Louis Armstrong, wrought-iron balconies and mouth-watering Cajun cuisine. Louisiana’s largest city, in the heart of the Deep South, the ‘Big Easy’ is being regenerated in the wake of devastating hurricane Katrina.

One area relatively unscathed was Bourbon Street – where jazz saxophones ring out of traditional bars interspersed by others offering more colourful nightlife. There are several New Orleans hotels near Bourbon Street, spread around the French Quarter with its distinctive Creole architecture.

To the south is Jackson Square, dominated by the Disney-esque St Louis Cathedral. Horses and carts wait patiently by the square, and locals set up their stools and start playing catchy tunes. Just behind is the legendary Mississippi River whose waters are still plied by paddle steamers.

From the river you get great views of the CBD skyscrapers and beside them is the huge Louisiana Superdome sports venue. Booking.com has several hotels near the Superdome, including some on Canal Street – a historic road where streetcars and the famous New Orleans Mardi Gras carnival pass down.

In the northern suburbs is New Orleans City Park, one of the oldest US parks and larger than NYC’s Central Park. Waterways lining it flow into large Lake Pontchartrain bordered by a bayou – the typical wetlands of the state.

The hotels location was absolutely incredible could not have asked for a better place in that regard the ambience and character were wonderful. It is an older hotel. That is well taken care of with a wonderful interior courtyard. The staff was amazing and overall, I really liked it and would go back myself. One other thing they have parking about a two minute walk from the hotel, which is a real plus. The only issue we had was there was no elevator at this hotel, and it was not prominently announced when you reviewed it on the website. I was traveling with a family member with severe COPD and we had to traverse three flights of stairs to get to our room. I had sprained my ankle several days before on our trip and it was a severe sprain and getting up and down those stairs was very difficult. If you have any issues with breathing or mobility, this is not a place for you otherwise I would recommend it wholeheartedly.

New Orleans.... We love the city! Coming here for years and it's the first city we visited before we continue traveling. The live music, the bars, the food, the people, the scenery it's great! It's a city where both old and young can enjoy themselves. This has to be on your bucket list!

I stayed in NOLA 6 days and felt like it was too short, don't get me wrong we did almost everything that's there to do, plantation tour, we ate lots of different beignets, po'boys, muffuletta, gumbo, jambalaya, trip in the steamboat natchez through the Mississippi, we listen to jazz at the famous conservation hall, walk through bourbon street, watched street performers, bought art on Sunday from the Jackson square artists, Sunday church at the famous The St. Louis Cathedral, we also visit the aquarium, the insectarium, WWII museum, the garden district I mean our schedule was packed!!! You need great stamina, and walking shoes the people the food, the culture the houses I don't know which one we liked the best, it was more like a mix of everything it is such a magical and lovely place! 100000% recommended for any taste, age group, and everything there is something for anyone! Honestly I can't wait to go back again!!

We stayed in the French Quater, which was perfect. I really enjoyed the steam boat trip and the Oak Alley plantation. We did do the plantation ourselves and the Steam Boat as it is cheaper to do online.

NOLA comes with superb french district night-out.

NOLA comes with superb french district night-out. Restaurants and clubs are chock-full with jazz bands all night long. Prices aren't economical, but it's worth spending few nights in the vintage district as it is like taking a journey to the past with timeless architectural features. Don't miss out a daily tour in the swamp just reasonable miles off the city or a plantation tour. Both come with impressive natural flora and fauna as well as awareness of recent history raising plenty of questions.

Going to a city like New Orleans we didn't want to stay in a Marriot or a Hilton. While there is nothing wrong with those hotels, we wanted something with a little more New Orleans "flavor" and we got that at the St. James. The hotel was a little understaffed (a problem facing a lot of businesses!), but the staff that was there was very friendly, helpful and professional. And the location of the hotel between the French Quarter and the Garden District was perfect for us. Overall, it was a wonderful place to stay.

WG Creole House is an absolutely wonderful place to stay: beautifully appointed, meticulously clean, and conveniently located, within walking distance of downtown, the convention center, Canal Street, and the French Quarter. Melissa is a wonderfully friendly innkeeper who is passionate about her city and wants all her guests to experience the best of New Orleans, including experiences and dining to be had off the beaten path. This place will be our go-to for all future visits to the Crescent City!

The location, staff, breakfast and facility are the best. All the staff are very friendly and ready to help with anything. The room was very spacious with a kitchenette. The hot breakfast was very generous. check-in and check out was quick. If you plan to take a cruise, the location is the best for both walking distance to the French Quarter and walking distance to the cruise port. It is in a very safe and quiet area. One the best hotels that we have ever stayed.

The hotel was very quaint and lovely. The rooms were bright and clean. Loved the lobby area and front outside sitting area. Breakfast was bagels, hard boiled eggs, coffee, cereal, muffins. Fine for me. Trolly was right in front of the hotel. $3 for an all day pass to Bourbon Street and French Quarter. I loved being out of French Quarter. Garden District is so pretty. I'd stay there again. Very easy to get an Uber and right next door to a fabulous restaurant.

I liked the thoughtfulness and convenience of this hostel. The fact that there is a fountain to fill water bottles, free breakfast, 24/7 access to tea and coffee, a bar/restaurant attached, an aesthetically pleasing and comfortable lobby, staff recommendations for how to enjoy New Orleans, flyers re: Mardi Gras activities, the location to the French Quarter, public transit, and drug stores (for emergencies.)

As a family of three, looking to explore New Orleans from a decent, but not immediately central location, this was an excellent choice, and paying the extra for a penthouse with the terrace was absolutely the right choice. Lots of room, comfortable beds, a couple of blocks from the supermarket and we were glad not to have been closer to Canal Street or the French Quarter, both of which were walkable.

The location was great for visiting the best spots in New Orleans, just a short drive or ferry ride and you're right in the heart of the French Quarter. The house itself just exudes that feeling of Mardi Gras and the history of the area. The owner was incredibly friendly and attentive, giving us a rundown of the neighborhood and making sure any needs were met. Definitely would stay again.

Staff was awesome, great parking situation and love the arched brick entry as you drive in. Ice House Bar could not be better.

To make sure no bad luck happens to your car during night time, use the parking at Place D'Armes offered by the hotel for like 42$ a day.
