This family-owned hotel is quietly situated in Interlaken, 200 metres from the Interlaken West Station. Free Wi-Fi access and free parking are offered. We went there on August 2022. The ower was very nice. She explained everything about interlaken that we need to known including recomended local restuarants. They also provided the interlaken traveling bus/train card covering all the days that we stayed there but mostly i think traveller would have swiss pass already. The hotel not quite far from the main station and breakfast very nice. They have elevator in the hotel so no worry for large luggages. Althoug they did not have an airconditioner, it was okay with the fan in the night. The weather was not bad at night, it was about 25 degree or less in August.

Built in the 1890s, this historic hotel was one of the first hotels in Lauterbrunnen. The family-run Hotel Staubbach offers panoramic views of the Staubbach Falls and Lauterbrunnen Valley. Excellent hotel with a great view of Staubbach water falls and near to beautiful walking trails. Lauterbrunnen train station and cable car station towards Muren is in walking distance. The hotel staffs are exceptionally polite and friendly. They have a free parking. We arrived a little early and asked the hotel stuffs if we can park our car there and move around the city - but out of our expectation they greeted us and let us check-in to the room at that time and also guided us where to go and how to do the sight seeing. Breakfast was excellent with a fabulous view of the mountains and water falls.

A stunner in the middle of wilderness! If you could choose, try going when snow has appeared. Looks like winter wonderland. Reaching the hotel is advisable via your own car. Public transport is available but may take a while to reach. Tip: Carry water/snacks from Coop at Meriengen (short stop before going forward to Gadmen). The lodge experience is truly calming. Anna at the reception and the rest of the staff are a delight. They would go lengths to make your stay comfortable. We had booked for 8 people but the other family became sick hence only our familiy of 4 reached the lodge. Anna updgraed us to a large room for 4. Room was quite spacious with a splending mountain view. The whole village was covered under snow and the peace of the Alps was all encompassing. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in the snow. The dinner at the restaurant was quite good. We had Rosti, Alpiner pasta and chicken wings with fries (finger licking fries). It is recommended that you do have the dinner at the lodge. We would surely want to come back. Thanks Anna for making our stay a delight.

Located in Thun, 29 km from Bärengraben, Schloss Schadau - Swiss Historic Hotel provides accommodation with a garden, private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. Living in Australia, we don't have castles. So the opportunity to stay in a castle was too good to pass up. Schloss Schadau did not disappoint. We were met at reception by Helen who could not have been more helpful and was also had a wealth of knowledge about the property. She personally showed us to our beautiful room which had a magnificent view of the lake and the Alps behind. If you stay here you simply MUST have dinner here as well. Again there is no escaping from the fact that you are in a castle ! The dining room(s) are luxurious and the food and the service are excellent, matching the decor. Breakfast is served in the same location. It wasn't cheap, but hey ! It's a castle. If you are able to stay one night or more here. You should do it. Unforgettable.

Wengen is a good centre for walking in the Bernese Oberland, with a cable car giving easy access to the footpaths beneath the Eiger and Jungfrau. The almost complete absence of cars makes it particularly enjoyable. A Jungfrau pass, though expensive, makes getting around much easier and pays for itself if using a number of trains and cable cars (though extra has to be paid for the Jungfraujoch and some other routes). The town is charming, with wonderful views.

Interlarken itself has everything you need and is the best and only place to see the Bernese Oberland. I do have reservations about some of the restaurants that do not advertise their menus in any other language other than their own! Not English, German French or Italian. I stayed in Unterseen and was very glad to have chosen it. There is a village feel although you are only metres away from the Main Street of Interlaken. I bought a Bernese Oberland pass for 6 days and was able to hop on and off trains, boats busses and mountain railways. Both lakes are beautiful. There is a lovely walk along the river Aare between the two stations which passes the train up the Harder Kulm. From the top you can look down on the para gliders hovering over the town. Interlaken is simply a good base for so many reasons. Spiez castle is worth visiting. Thun not so much. The town is good though.

Great location for visiting all parts of Switzerland especially Bernese Oberland. Great variety of options for trips. Although touristy that has always been its purpose. Shops have become less interesting over the years. Highly recommended overall.

Plan wisely and you want definitely to go back. This was our 7th time in the area. P.S.Afternoon tea at Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel was nice.Book ahead!

Only a five minute walk to the railway station and bus stop and, with the free local transport ticket provided (also giving discounts at some local attractions), there was no need to use the car locally. A lovely hotel that is beautifully maintained and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had nice weather when there and took advantage of the large outdoor area that overlooks the lake. Plenty of comfortable seating and an outdoor bar where you can get excellent drinks. Dining here is expensive, but a block away is an affordable restaurant with delicious Italian focused food. We had a car while there which was helpful as this is not in the midst of a big town. I believe the bus stops right by the hotel though.

The location of the hotel right on Lake Thun was spectacular and the areas for dining or enjoying a pre-dinner drink overlooking the lake was a wonderful plus. The grounds are beautifully cared for with gorgeous flowers and palm trees. The food was extremely good, the spa facilities were top-rate and the gracious staff made our stay such a pleasure.
