Matei offers ease of access to do all of the activities on Taveuni and has the nicest weather on the island.
Quite. Peaceful. Although Fiji has been a holiday destination for many years now staying here it doesn't appear that Taveuni has. The unmade roads, the local villages and people all make it seem a little untouched. Exactly what we were looking for. Loved it!
I loved the diving on Rainbow Reef. It was the best diving I have ever done anywhere! The island of Taveuni is full of natural beauty. There are some wonderful walks & fabulous waterfalls. I just didn't have enough time to see & do everything I wanted to. Next time I will definitely go for longer!
Taveuni is awesome! Very friendly locals. Transport can be scarce and takes some arranging (with locals, hotel, etc.) but the island scenery makes it well worth a visit!
We based ourselves for 3 nights at the Lodge and had a great time. The staff are really great and so hospitable. Rooms were clean and spacious. There is a restaurant/bar which is brilliant value. The evening meals are delicious and the breakfasts are really excellent - would recommend the pancakes and the fresh fruit platter. The lodge could benefit from a coffee machine - they only do instant coffee. The lodge offers to organise trips around Taveuni which are great if you’re looking for a convienent way of seeing the sites but with a bit of organisation you can do the trips yourself for quite a lot cheaper. The Lavena coastal walk is not to be missed! Overall a lovely trip, great atmosphere and met lots of fellow travellers.
A very good place to explore Taveuni, the Garden Island as well as one of the most authentic places in Fiji. Rooms are big and beautiful, bed is huge and comfy, food at the restaurant is good and varied. But what we really appreciated the most were the hosts, Ngaire and Dan, who helped us organizing our days arranging tours, picked us up and took us to the airport and gave us good advices to make the most out of our stay. Absolutely reccommended!
Matei
Amazing villa, amazing hospitality - our expectations were all surpassed. Sharon and her team did everything to make us feel welcome, supported us to book tours & experience the beauty of Taveuni. The villa & views are in reality even more cosy then the picture shows. The food was excellent and fresh, we particularly enjoyed the local Fiji menu.
Matei
Very nice setting, big and airy rooms (bures), a good restaurant and very nice and friendly staff. Maravu has a very relaxing athmosphere, there is absolutely no stress around. And not overpriced as so many other places on Taveuni. Sometimes it looks a bit unorganized but that's just the fijian way, in the end everything works out.
