Staff were very helpful, particularly Akash, who went to great lengths to help get some belongings we left behind back to us which was more than appreciated!

Hokitika Pioneer Hotel is an old style country pub with attached accommodation. With a casino, the property also features a garden. Guests can dine in the in-house restaurant or relax in the bar. Staff were very welcoming and friendly (thank you Sue). Locals hang out at the bar in the evenings which adds a nice vibe to the place. Everything in Hokitika within walking distance.

Well appointed heritage stay. Tastefully done, keeping with its history and location. Helpful staff and location was just ‘right’.

Opened in 2014 and offering 20 luxurious rooms with free WiFi, Franz Josef Oasis is just 10 minutes’ drive from the Franz Josef Glacier. If only we could have stayed longer. Literally this is an oasis of tranquility after visiting the Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers. A beautiful, garden setting on the north side of Franz Josef. We sat out on the decking overlooking the pond late afternoon listening to birdsong. The rooms were amazing, spacious, well planned with a huge bed and large bathroom. We paid for continental breakfast and were very happy the selection.

Room was clean, warm and comfortable with cooking facilities. Location perfect for walking to shops, cafes, restaurants and tour guides
