Located in the heart of the Hell-Bourg village within the in the Cirque de Salazie, Le Relais Des Cimes boasts a terrace. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. it is definitly bigger than all the other accomodations we have slept at in Réunion. It has more of a hotel-feeling. But the overall vibe was really nice and relaxed. The room was good and clean. The food was excellent and all staff members were extremely friendly! We used it as a base to do hikes in the area.

Salazie
Offering a garden and lake view, Gite LA CASCADE BLANCHE is set in Salazie, 6.1 km from Cirque de Salazie and 32 km from Cirque de Mafate. What shall I say. People indeed make a difference, and that's why we would return without hesitation. The warmth we experienced from Fissa, Antoine, and Tom was incredible! We felt genuinely welcomed and enjoyed two superb dinners with them. Sharing the table with other guests, we engaged in delightful conversations, although our french was almost not existing, and savored a glass (or two) of rum. Unforgettable! A special thank you to Tom, who provided unwavering support throughout our stay. Even when we faced a memory storage issue, he came to our rescue (and sacrificed his sleep ^^). The next little house is approximately 50 meters away, ensuring ample privacy. Ours even had a Jacuzzi, a delightful addition after a hike. We adore animals, so it was charming to see a lovely dog and a donkey strolling around. While the house and its furnishings weren't extravagant, they had everything you needed and, most importantly, were impeccably clean.

Billed as a hiking destination so we were quite excited. However, quite disappointed by the hiking offered. Nothing is truly easy, as Salazie itself is a good distance down in the valley. Hikes therefore require a good hour and a half up, and hour down, so leave early morning and be back by lunchtime - it's extremely hot in the wet season. We also found trails poorly maintained, with spiny plants overgrowing the trail in numerous places. Views from the valley rims weren't bad, but on the shorter walks the view always looks back down into the same valley, and Salazie isn't very pretty from above. Town square was quaint, with little souvenir stores and cafes along the main street. Was enjoyable for a day, but wouldn't send someone for the hiking, had far better hikes elsewhere in the world.
Countless waterfalls ; gorgeous mountains - Mafate is the best, Salazie - second , Cilaos - third in the mountain beauty contest We had lunch at Hell Bourg - in one of the little restaurants on the Main Street . The food was delicious. The village is worth visiting and the road to there offers fantastic views
