How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

the noise of a dog barking late into the night everything in the hotel is tired and needs upgrading the pillows and bed were rock hard

There was a large wedding during both days of our stay. This didn’t make our stay unpleasant it was just not something we expected upon our arrival.
The pool and gym were an excellent addition, probably one of the best equipped gyms we’ve seen within a hotel. The rooms, although dated were extremely spacious.

No access to restraunt because of bus crowds, No good beers, average beds but low cost.
OK.i was at an event in the RIock centre for two days so just wanted a local value hotel. This had lots of value bus visitors enjoying so we had a different requirement. No big 8sdue but no room 8n restaurant god dinner or breakfast is a problem

No desk or chair to work (travelled for work). No shower, only a bath. I would have expected this to be highlighted during the booking. Very noisy in the corridors in the evening.

the toilet seat in room 348 is broken, and wobbles, there was dirt in the draws so me and my partner had to wipe them down with wipes before being able to place our belongings in there, & i origionally wanted a room with a jaccuzi bath, which is why i paid £85, but only got a room with a shower.

Undergoing renovation. Swimming pool and sauna don’t work. Gym is closing early. Staff wasn’t very helpful, looked tired… probably bad day or too many hotel visitors…
Away from town and motorway. Locates in the green forestry area. Good value for money.

The shower did not stay up high as it could not be adjusted. When we had breakfast the young lady said I was using the wrong toaster but it would have been helpful in getting actual help instead of her talking from another room while talking to another member of staff. It made me feel a bit stupid! The spa and swimming pool was out of action. You had to pay £4pp at the gym. The gym was ok but very dusty and could do with upgrading the older pieces of equipment. A few trip hazards too as they have aircon type machines or fans dotted around the room.
The bathroom was beautifully fitted. The room was a great temperature not cold at all. The staff were friendly and welcoming when we had dinner and also the chef was great too. Great assets to this hotel.

...experience at reception was a bit confusing, and complicated? ...rooms could do with the door closers - overhauling!! To stop slamming when people are entering and leaving rooms
This hotel is lovely and spacious, and has an old unique quality about it...good bar, good secure parking and clean spacious room s with ensuite bathroom...

Found the bed quite hard and the water pressure was low in the shower. There was noise laying the carpet outside my room for 2 days but it is nice and new now!
Quiet location, good price and availability. Kindly accommodated request for a slightly earlier check in.

The rooms seemed outdated. Lift felt like it could breakdown at any minute.
Bathroom seemed to be the only new thing about the hotel. Everything else was outdated.

The fridge in the room made an intermittent buzzing noise which woke me up in the night.
It is a lovely old building and grounds. Staff were pleasant and friendly.

Organisation at breakfast - not enough room in the restaurant with three coach parties all booked in within 30 minutes of each other. Staff and facilities could not cope. No pint glasses at the bar because tables were not being cleared or glasses washed. Room - especially bathroom was basic. Shower poor - flow and temperature.
Convenient to our reason for staying. Clean and comfortable enough. Bar and breakfast fine. Our stay was fine .
