Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe service wasn't as you might expect as they seemed to be short staffed and had 3 big events going on. The option to pay upfront for a dinner package was a bit of a swizz as there were lots of supplements to pay for different choices. I can understand for steak, but even some basic dishes had supplements and actually the quality wasn't all that. There really isn't any benefit to doing that I can see and they were cheeky enough to add a discretionary service charge to the bill before asking how the service was. The staff on reception even referred to it as 'the up sell' not the dinner package, so you can tell where the focus is and its not on the customer experience. We had to queue for breakfast 15mins too. If you have two weddings and a 60th party, you need more staff. We had also paid for another extra up front and it just didn't arrive.
The location and venue are beautiful, the roll top bath was a welcome treat.

United KingdomAdditional charge for parking when you're staying at the hotel. Someone had given our room number for bar service, but obviously hadn't signed for it - which meant that we had additional charges for things that we'd never had on departure. This was resolved by the manager. A previous version of myself would have just paid the bill to save the mither. Just a little annoying and awkward. The rooms were nice but it also never occurred to us that there would be a wedding party (obviously this is a prime wedding location) however we didn't expect DJ 1990s to be blaring until 12.30am. Feel that the hotel should pre warn people upon booking that this may be the case. Bar food - stopped serving at 6pm. We'd only just arrived at this time so had to venture out again for food, which led to an additional car parking charge.

CanadaWe had a very lovely stay however I do have to mention the lobby/main level had a very strong perfume smell that Extremely bothered me. If anyone is sensitive to smell, I would quickly run up to my room, or scurry outside.
The grounds were lovely, room was comfortable and clean, breakfast was fantastic.

United KingdomIt was a little bit too expensive for us to try and stay on for another night, when we made enquiries about that possibility, although the overall 1 night was lovely. I noticed that the glass shelf in the bathroom was a bit tilted at an angle, and that it would have been extra special to have say, a little cake/ to accompany the selection of tea and coffee, as we travelled a long way. But I would love to come back. I actually didn't take as many photos as I wanted, as I was rather put off the signage saying how you had to get permission to take photos. It was a wedding anniversary treat, so that was a bit of shame to not really get the photos I was hoping for. There were so many things I would have loved to get pictures of!!
Stunning grounds and majestic and beautiful all around. Loved the fact you could go for a walk and Go Ape was right on site. I also lived the fact there was a very beautiful piano.... it would have been even better if i could have heard it being used. I also liked the breakfast a lot, which was splendid.

United StatesTo be honest, it was a great overnight stop. Unfortunately, we got a call at 3am from the staff telling us that our car had been broken into along with another vehicle. Luggage was stolen from the trunk (which was not visible from outside). The staff were very good and apologized. They already notified the police with report number etc. When we checked out the next morning, the duty manager said it was unfortunate and it hasn't happened before (sure... okay) and then said here's your bill for food etc. Okay, we had it, not a problem but there seemed to be little sympathy for the situation. In comparison, we arrived at our next hotel in Hull and when they heard we had our luggage stolen, they comped us the car parking fees and gave us a free drink on them even though it was nothing to do with their hotel. A nice touch that would have been appreciated from Coombe Abbey. Even if they had waived the 8-pound parking fee, or waived the desert from the meal, it would have been something. Unfortunately, the manager seemed very indifferent about the situation.
very nice staff upon check-in. Couldn't be more helpful. Restaurant staff and bar staff were really helpful and polite. We ate dinner there which was excellent. Room was good, nothing special but clean and orderly
