The windows can barely be opened so it gets very hot in the room and we arrived during very cold rainy spells . The restaurant has very little selection for plant based diet especially because we stayed for 5 nights hence had to go out for meals on most days. Shower caps should be provided in the spa and in the jacuzzi shud be mandatory for hygeine reasons

Beautiful surroundings for peace and tranquility. Heated pool nice ambiance in the restaurants

Nothing really, room was rather warm at night and perhaps pillows could have been a little more luxurious!

Loved the general vibe and atmosphere. Lots of great touches, welcome drink, guest pantry etc Service and staff were also very pleasant and helpful.

The location is slightly out in the sticks, but still not so far away from civilisation to be a problem. There really isn't anything more to say with regards to downsides!

All the staff were amazing, so helpful and friendly. The facilities were excellent and exceeded our expectations. The restaurant and food quality were very, very good. We are already planning our next visit.

Our stay was for leisure, as my sister and I wanted a relaxing break away together. However, my only criticism was the amount of business/corporate clients and the fact that at one point I counted 7 separate people working solely on lap tops and other groups of people holding business meetings in the main lounge area. It was disappointing and this affected our enjoyment of sitting in the lounge to relax. Maybe a separate room could be allocated for those who were doing office work?

Great location, luxury hotel, lovely decor, relaxing spa and outdoor pool, lots of personal touches. Food and wine delicious, although pricey! The scenery of trees and surrounding hotel garden gave a tranquil atmosphere to the place. Would love to re-visit sometime.

    All sorted!

So an initially really poor impression. Meal not served, a bartender who ‘short served’ my drink! However, a superb recovery from the management who served me a replacement drink and brought my meal to my room. And charged me for neither! Having worked in a customer facing environment for many years, mistakes happen! It is then the appreciation of a mistake and reparations which leaves the lasting feeling! So 10/10 for those who sorted out my evening. Would I go there again? Would I recommend it to others? Absolutely! A beautiful location with lots to offer and a management team who make things work for the customer!! Well done all! Dr, the Councillor, Past Lord Mayor of the City of Westminster.

We had a evening meal here which was lovely but 1 of the 3 steaks we had was disappointing as chewy but we had a free dessert so every effort was made to put this right

Beautifully decorated interior. Using some upcycled furniture. Lovely setting. Welcome drink on arrival with friendly staff. There was a complimentary pantry on each floor which was such a lovely idea with soft drinks & snacks.

The afternoon tea lacked a bit, we were told extra sandwiches would be extra whereas most places with afternoon these days give free refills of sandwiches. There also wasn’t enough cream as jam for 4 scones. The cakes were ok but not the tastiest. The spa is beautiful, I recently slipped in a pool area though where the floor was wet, I noticed today (Sunday 21st April) the floor was really soaking wet in the inside pool area, it made me feel a bit worried walking around.

It was very peaceful and quiet even though there were a few events going on. We loved the yard and coffee shop, fab cakes! Outdoor heated pool was amazing and gorgeous in the sun. The spa staff went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable for my treatment after I told them I’m in the middle of chemotherapy.

We booked mainly for the spa faculties and when we arrived the steam room was closed and the pool was closed for 50% of our stay. The reasons were explained to us but no compensation offered. Also after we checked in I tried to book a table in one of the restaurants, I waited for the staff to finish their conversation and the lady who then tried to help me with the request seemed annoyed that I had asked! (Small moan but was very noticeable)

The hotel itself is really pretty and the grounds are lovely. The person who checked us in and gave us a welcome drink was so so lovely!

The room I was in for the first night became unbearably noisy first thing in the morning, as it seemed to be above the power room for the spa. I requested a change of room which was done swiftly and with no hassle at all, which I really appreciated. Personally, I think that a stay in a higher-end hotel should never require you to use ear plugs (especially in the countryside), and so rooms like these which have unfixable problems should not be sold.

The hotel is beautiful, with well-furnished and spacious bedrooms, lovely grounds, and comfortable public areas. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. My friends and I ate in Yu restaurant, which was delicious, and we all used the spa. A couple of us booked treatments, which were great. The breakfasts were also reasonably priced with a good selection. Highly recommended.

We may have missed this due to not booking directly, however I did also call to confirm we could bring our dog after filtering for dog friendly hotels on here, and was not informed of the cost. We paid £30 a night to bring our teacup chihuahua which added up for a 3 night stay. It’s great that we could bring her and she could go in the main restaurant even, but it was a bit of a surprise to hear of the £90 charge on arrival, this should maybe be clearer on booking.com. Our room looked out onto car park also which wasn’t the best, had to be careful with changing when the curtains were open, this might be where the dog friendly rooms are situated as we heard another dog next door. The website mentions options if you are coming by public transport including a taxi company - book this in advance! We arrived in Hungerford (4 miles away) and after calling every taxi company we could find on Google, managed to secure a pick up for 2 hours later. Taxis also cost an absolute bomb, £20-30 a time to go 2/3 miles only, so bare that in mind. The hotel is lovely though and of course part of the appeal is being remote. There are two electric bikes you need a motorcycle licence to use, we would have loved to use them if we had known but didn’t bring licences with us.

The staff, although you could tell a lot of them were new, were really lovely. The outdoors pool was beautiful, the water is tepid but we had good weather for March and really enjoyed outdoors swimming in the morning. The treatments were nice enough, expensive but we were lucky to go when they were offering a free salt float session with every treatment booking, I hadn’t tried this experience before so that was a great touch and helped me justify the expense of a massage! The pantry offering free coke/juices/popcorn is a brilliant touch. We really enjoyed the lunch and dinners we had and they were a reasonable price considering the location. We did not have a car and taxis cost a bomb, if you are in this situation and want other options for meals we had an amazing roast dinner at the five bells in Wickham (45 minute walk), we walked to kintbury where there are two pubs in same time (just had a drink.. check their kitchens are open on weekdays!) and we got a recommendation for the recently reopened halfway house pub which is very close, but unfortunately they were closed on Monday/Tuesday.

I would have preferred a warmer water temperature in the hydro spa pool. There were no slippers/flip flops in the room to wear to walk to the spa from my room in my gown. There was no phone in my room so I had to walk to reception to order room service (in my pyjamas).

Lovely decor, friendly staff, good food, nice personalised touches, boutique luxury feel. The pantries with complimentary drinks and snacks are a very nice service.
