Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomTight, narrow and steep stairs to our room on the top floor.
The room, the coffee machine, the bathroom, cleanliness, staff and the very central location. The noise was really unnoticeable, especially considering we were right in the centre.of the city above a busy bar. The room was really comfortable and spacious

United KingdomI couldn't figure out how to use the coffee machine in my room. There were instructions in the information pack, however the writing was very small and I'm not at all patient until after I've my coffee. I had tea instead, which was fine.
The hotel/pub staff were friendly, welcoming and happy to chat. The room was larger than I'd expected. It was cosy and comfortable.

United KingdomThe only thing I could say is that we asked for a spare throw and some more milk but didn’t get any, but we didn’t need it in the end and if we’d asked again I’m sure they would of sorted it for us. It can be a little loud too at night but the ear plugs provided resolved that issue.
We absolutely loved how the room was decorated, super quirky, spacious and comfortable. Bed and bedding was lovely, tea and coffee was all high quality and the bathroom and soaps were all gorgeous too. The pub downstairs was quirky and full of history and the staff were really friendly. The location was perfect too.

United StatesOur rooms (we had two) were up 3 & 4 flights of stairs, which is not unexpected but quite the challenge with luggage. Earplugs were provided due to an abundance of noise-our evening it was provided by yelling humans until far into the night - the kind of thing that cannot be controlled by the management.
Great location 3 blocks from Exeter Central train station, and easy walk to many meal and visitor options. Great staff in Pub with excellent cask and keg options. Room had everything you might need, with Nespresso large pod coffee maker, and water kettle. All updated and many charging options in room. The pub held onto our bags while we explored the cathedral and phoned for our taxi as we left - so helpful.

United StatesThe desk was extremely sticky and the metal coating would come off on whatever I set on it. Maybe put a new desk in there or cover the top with something so it can be used? The bed was extremely squeaky and uncomfortable. Could use an update!

United KingdomThe only potential downside would be noise. But it's above a city centre pub, so a bit of late night noise should be expected. The Turk's Head, in fact, embraces its pubiness and even supplies ear defenders and masks.
Great value and excellent rooms, very well equipped with everything you'd need.

United KingdomIf I was being picky, I felt the bathroom could have been a little bit cleaner around the edges, but it certainly didn't ruin our stay!
Great value, comfortable cosy room (not in a small way - surprised at the size of it!) with a Nespresso coffee machine and decent teas plus bottled water. Lovely Rituals toiletries, really comfortable bed, fab shower and a brilliant hairdryer. Also an iron and ironing board too. We liked that the rooms had a separate external entrance to the pub so we could come and go as we wanted. Staff helpful and friendly. Could not beat its position in the centre of Exeter. Our son has just moved down but no room to stay at his place so this will be our go-to stopover when we visit!
